I'm sure that there are many people who were afraid when we brought him to the Preseason that Aaron Maybin was the second coming of V Who Must Not G Named. He looked pretty good in the preseason but didn't make the cut so we all must have thought the front office felt they were just reducing risk. But with little to no pass rush in the first 3 weeks, there was suddenly a pressing need and in less than 4 games he managed to accomplish was VG couldn't accomplish in 48 - make a play on defense.
But now that he's on the radar, teams are actually going to be considering him a person of interest and may be trying to stop him. The mark of a good player is if you can respond to being gameplanned against. The mark of a great player is if you can be a force even when gameplanned against.
Sorry for being a bubble-burster against, but I'm just not confident that Maybin can do it. I just don't trust defensive players who start their careers terribly, out of nowhere become good and then everyone thinks they're awesome.
I would like to believe he's good but need some harder proof. Can I get some reassuring comments please?
