As we said earlier in the week, Rex hadn't quite decided what he was going to do with OLB Bryan Thomas' roster spot. Today, it seems that he has made his decision. Per Connor Orr, via Twitter:

#Jets sign OLB Eddie Jones to the active roster, place Bryan Thomas on injured reserve.

This is interesting since Jones was just signed to the practice squad earlier in the week. This leaves another spot open on the PS. It is also interesting since, as we now know, DT Kenrick Ellis will not be activated this week. Presumably, OLB Jamaal Westerman will split the majority of the time with OLB/DE Aaron Maybin, and Jones will be in to spell them for breaks when they need to be rested. As with the defensive line and safety position, it sounds like Rex will be taking a rotational approach to keep players fresh and utilize each of their strengths in different packages. You may recall Jones from the pre-season when he had an excellent game against the Eagles.
