WHY THE JETS WILL NOT WIN ANYTHING AGAIN EVER EVER EVER !!!111!!!!!1 PART TWO

THE JETS ARE A TERRIBLE TEAM, THEY DIDN'T PLAY ON OFFENSE OF DEFENSE!  EVEN SPECIAL TEAMS WAS FOLKED UP! THE HISTORY OF THE JETS ARE TERRIBLE TOO! JUST LOOK AT MY COMRADE IN ARMS PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF THE JETS HISTORY AT

http://www.ganggreennation.com/2010/12/7/1861247/why-the-jets-will-not-win-anything-again-ever-ever-ever-111-1

"LETS LOOK BACK IN HISTORY. 100 YEARS AGO, THE NEW YORK JETS DID NOT WIN A SINGLE GAME! AND THIS TREND CONTINUED UNTIL 1960, WHEN THE TEAM WAS FOUNDED, ONLY EVEN THEN IT WASN"T GOOD ENOUGH TO BE IN THE NFL FOR ALMOST TEN YEARS! IT TOOK TEN YEARS TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP AND THERE IS SOME SPECULATION THAT JOE NAMATH WAS ACTUALLY A ROBOT SO MAYBE EVEN THE JETS CHEATED! AND OMG THEN THE JETS HAD A STREAK OF NOT BEING IN THE PLAYOFFS SOME YEARS AND OTHER YEARS NOT WINNING SUPERBOWLS WHICH MEANS THAT THIS YEAR'S SUPREMELY TALENTED TEAM SUCKS! AND THEN JOHN ABRAHAM AND FAKE SPIKE AND BILL PARCELLS AND CHAD PENNINGTON AND KELLEN CLEMENS AND KEYSHAWN AND OMG SAME OLD JETS OY,"

OMG THAT'S TERRIBLE WE'RE DOOOOMED AS A TEAM FOREVER, GET RID OF SANCHEZ, REVIS, HARRIS, MANGOLD, KENDRICK ELLIS, D'BRICK, REX RYAN, MIKE TANNANBAUM, AND HOLMES, THIS TEAM NEEDS TO BE GUTTED LIKE THE 2008 LIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Star-divide

But in all seriousness everyone needs to chill out.  It's not like we're the Minnesota Vikings or Miami Dolphins at 0-4,  we are only sitting at 2-2.  We're only one game behind in the AFC East.  We didn't have our best player on offense on the field tonight with Mangold and that was painfully obvious.  We didn't have as bad as a game as most people think (Offensively we did).  Defense held a Blooming passer in Joe Flacco to just as bad of a day on O with all their line together.  As for Sanchez, you tell me, if you were getting hit on every single play in an extremely loud stadium with an extremely loyal fanbase, I've been there and my brother is one, how would you be at passing the ball?

Just wait, all because we had a couple of bad games in a row for COMPLETELY different reasons, one offensively and one defensively, doesn't mean we should go for Andrew Luck.  Why Would we want him anyway?  Has Flacco, Matt Ryan, Josh Freeman or Matthew Stafford come into the playoffs and play like Sanchez has? No they haven't.  Flacco has been terrible in the playoffs and the same with Ryan, and how has Tampa been in the playoffs? That's right they haven't been there.

Guys, there's absolutely no need to panic when we are only 25% of the way into the season.  Many of you are so down it makes me wonder what exactly are Jets fans made out of.  I will believe in my team until the day I die, and I'll believe in them until the clock hits 0:00 in any game.  One day that will be the clock in the superbowl with the Jets winning.  Go ahead and be as negative as you want, but do it somewhere else where we won't have to deal with it.

Playcalling

I know the line is not doing well. But when everyone knows the same thing, then its time to mass protect. First offensive play of the game? Backed down by their own goal line, they run a 3 WR with no back in to protect Thats just dumb. And there was no adjustment the whole game.

Ok, Greene and the run game are struggling. Greene had 7 catches last week. Why not one attempt this week? Why not try the hot hand of Joe McKnight? Just stupid.

The play calling sucked. Sanchez? Well he had about as good/bad a game against the Ravens D as Flacco had against the Jets D. The playcalling plain and simple sucked.

by CervezaVerde on Oct 3, 2011 12:26 AM EDT reply actions

The playcalling is handcuffed to the QB who cant read defenses and the RB with little push

Not sure what can be called with a QB that locks on his WRs and has a TE who drops most passes. The feature back seems to go 3 yards and down. I thought Greene was going to be like Gore or MJD instead he might as well be Kevan Barlow.

Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, and you will not be counting days, or months, or years, but milleniums in a place with no doors.

by YankeesJets on Oct 3, 2011 1:50 AM EDT up reply actions

Obviously something new has to happen as they look very predictable

As predictable as they are, Sanchez still cant get in sync with his offense even though it seems we keep seeing the same plays called week after week. As far as the run game, its time to try some other stuff because this isnt fooling anybody. Greene is not good enough to be the feature back, its time to try McKnight. Perhaps he has better vision.

Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, and you will not be counting days, or months, or years, but milleniums in a place with no doors.

Disagree

Greene is a good runner I don’t think anyone would be doing better. Sanchez is a mediocre QB and that is all he will ever be. He misses alot of things he should be seeing by now and is not very accurate. However he is who we have. We need an OC that can actually come up with plays that will work around him.

Greene is averaging like 3.1 a carry, thats not gonna get it done.

Irish tinted glasses.

This team will not win the Super Bowl let alone the AFC championship unless changes are made from the top down. Defense does not win championships, a dominent offensive line does. Ours has looked shabby and depthless through the preseason. Callahan didn’t do anything with what he had and the FO didn’t bring personnel in. The problems here are not superficial, they are deep and if people can’t see that it’s because they aren’t trying to.

Hah, Jets blog. I wouldn't say that over at Phinsider.

AFC East games are always toss ups even when the other team is winless. I do hope you guys win against teams other then the Jets though because I don’t want to have Andrew Luck in division.

Please

tell me when its time to panic. It’s been 4 weeks and against any halfway decent team we have look awful. Call me crazy, but unless we’re planning to play the Jaquars for the next 12 weeks and well into the playoffs, I think now is a pretty good time to sound the blast the nuclear war siren. Do we look remotely ready to play the Pats next week? Panic seems like a pretty sound option.

Seriously

Sanchez will have a massive rebound this week, and it will have more to do with the Pats’ inept D more than a change in his mechanics.

What’s the deal with Mangold this week? We’re all crossing our fingers here hoping he’s out since we lost our C for the entire season. It’s easy to see the impact he has on that team. Just a totally different team with him on the field.

Can I Scream?

by Adam Fox on Oct 3, 2011 2:47 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not sure how many are worrying about the season or how many are just plain disgusted at how the team lost tonight.

Personally, I felt like the Jets would struggle finding an identity on offense early in the season, but I didn’t think it would be this bad.

The Jets will lose to the Pats (probably in blowout fashion) and then beat the Fins and the Bolts and regroup during the bye week. They’ll go 8-1 at best or 7-2 at worst the rest of the way (barring any major injuries) and make the playoffs.

by DesertJetFan on Oct 3, 2011 12:57 AM EDT reply actions

I think that's pretty optimistic.

I think we’re gonna get killed by the Pats though—like bad. I think they’re going to be looking to make us pay for last year. We’ll see.

by cult hero on Oct 3, 2011 1:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Mayo is out, and that's big even on a defense that is the worse in the league.

It’s too bad we can’t run the ball or we could take advantage of that.

by Timmaht on Oct 3, 2011 1:29 AM EDT up reply actions

Depends on Mangold...

If we get Mangold back at 100% I think it will be a decent game…I think Revis, Cro and Wilson match up well against the Pats WRs and can limit them. The pats are a pass first team and our defense is built to stop them. If Brady is stupid enough to try and challenge Revis that will buy us the extra time we need to get our rushers to the QB. We can stop Woodhead, he doesn’t scare me at all. As far as the Pats D goes, they are beat up and everyone knows they can’t stop a nosebleed. They got into a shootout with the Fins…our O with Mangold is at least as good as the Fins O(Baring shit play calling from schotty) we are going to be able to move the ball and put up some points on them.

by RhodesRocks on Oct 3, 2011 1:52 AM EDT up reply actions

Good to know...

Either way I think this could be a good game…if we get up for the game emotionally and are there to compete. Do you think Brady will try to challenge Revis or do you think he will just ignore him and not waste the extra few precious seconds looking his way?

by RhodesRocks on Oct 3, 2011 2:37 AM EDT up reply actions

It depends on who can play.

Aaron Hernandez might return and when he plays, he opens up lanes for Deion Branch. Welker will find a way open and Gronkowski will have a couple good plays. It’s a matter of if Hernandez can play. If he’s on, then Brady might ignore Revis. If he doesn’t play, then Brady will have to look towards Revis because he will have no one else to throw the ball to.

by Richard Hill on Oct 3, 2011 12:18 PM EDT up reply actions

Our defense did a pretty good job last night, and that Ravens offense is one of the best in football. I don’t see why I should think we’d get killed next week.

Hindsight? How about looking at last weeks tape and saying we need more guys in to protect?

How about looking at the first offensive play of the game, then in the 2nd quarter saying lets not do that again? Biut they did do it again and again. It not hindsight, that just silly, and might I add lazy analysis.

by CervezaVerde on Oct 3, 2011 1:47 AM EDT up reply actions

How about Zero adjustment..

To try and take advantage of an over aggressive ravens defense. There are things you can do to counter an over aggressive D and make them pay for their over perusing, this in turn will force them to either get burned or scale back their aggressiveness to avoid getting burned. When they scale back their aggressiveness then you can run other plays without being eaten alive….Schotty didn’t call screens to LT, he didn’t move the pocket, he doesn’t seem to understand how to play to your players strengths and exploit the other teams weaknesses..

How do you think Sanchez threw his pick 6? That's a WR screen

They would have worked early, but once they sat on the routes it was over.

by NYJALLFINGDAY on Oct 3, 2011 4:59 AM EDT up reply actions

Not a Screen

That is a standard wast pass. It doesn’t work to throw the ball that way when the defence is crowding the line like they did last night. That pass works well against zone or when they are laying back 5-10 yards off the line. When the CB is right on the line it gives you no yardage even when completed. If you look back over the last 2 years games you will see that pass many times. It rarely works for us because the defender never backs up. You need to start them back then come up for the ball not stand there and let it come to you.
The fact that the safety came up made it worse because then the Cb can charge the ball which is what happened. Its a poor play if you want more than 1 or 2 yards.

by sledor on Oct 3, 2011 2:50 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't remember any being thrown at a relevant point in the game..

I undertsnad "fire Schotty" is over used

But, uh, yeah, here it was play calling. If the QB is getting hit, then you have to put in more protection and call for quicker throws. If D players are camped out in the backfield then yeah, um, maybe you need to come up with some protection schemes, no?

by CervezaVerde on Oct 3, 2011 1:38 AM EDT up reply actions

He did! But if you put more protection in, there are less recievers to throw to.

What kind of genius would get that shitty ass line to block Ngata and Suggs? They give good lines problems, never mind the excuse we had out there! Schemes only get you so far, you have to execute at some point.

The nerve of Schotty thinking his QB in year 3 can actually not look like a rookie

Schotty is garbage with his predictable crap but Sanchez’s inabillity to learn from the same mistakes is the problem here. Kid does an awful job protecting the ball and reading coverages. Even during garbage time with no pressure he was hitting guys in the feet or throwing over their heads. If Sanchez shows zero improvement this year, it might be time to look elsewhere.

Running the ball is a mentality as much as anything else

They need to go in with RB, FB, TE, maybe 2 TE, or Ducasse at TE, and commit to running. The more teams stack the box to stop the run, the more 1 on 1 matchups will be created to Holmes or Plax. Release Keller into the flat on some plays. Throw some screens and quick slants. Play action, etc.

The idea that Sanchez is more comfortable in 4 or 5 WR sets has to be squashed. Every QB will have an easier time finding someone open when you have double the number of targets. But it also completely eliminates the threat of the run.

There is a difference between flinging yourself off a roof and pinpointing an actual issue that needs to be addressed, and frankly we have quite a few. New England and San Diego coming up next, time to see what this team is made of.

Im starting to think...

Maybe its Sanchez, i HATE to say it but when the ball is in his hands he has to deliver it to the right guys, on a 3rd and 12 he shouldnt be looking for a TE/HB that is 3 yards past the line of scrimmage…also his audible to WR Holmes and Plax had them BOTH doing the SAME route right next to each other and neither of those routes went past the 1st down marker…how in the hell can he not take advantage of other teams weak points is beyond me, the Ravens have shitty CBs but we choose to pass into the middle of thier LB corp? lol…something needs to be done here and it needs to happen fast….as far as Mangold being our best player, i agree hes the best Center in the NFL but rememeber mangold played in last years game when Sanchez only had 74 passing yards and a 10-9 loss to these same Ravens

The O-Line is firmly to blame for a lot of his problems.

Every single game this year he has been hit, beaten, bruised, broken, battered…you name it our shitty O-Line has let Sanchez get hit with it. He has no time back there at all…and he is put in a no win situation. He can either throw the ball to the receiver who at first glance looks open, (which may or may not have an underneath defender waiting to jump the route, however if he looks for this defender and holds the ball these extra few second hes going to get sacked or strip sacked) Or Option 2 he can hold onto it and then get sacked or strip sacked like in today’s game. Even on plays where he is not getting pressured he has no faith in his O line and is still rushing to get the ball out which results in bad passes, shitty looking ints, etc. I have no faith in the Jets O line and 300 pound men aren’t grinding me into the pavement every time they fail, so I can only imagine how he feels. The truth is in year 3 we haven’s seen one game where the O-line gave him decent protection, so we have no idea what he would actually look like given time. Also one of Sanchez’s greatest strengths is his play fake. Unfortunately we have no running game or pass protection, to let it develop.

by RhodesRocks on Oct 3, 2011 2:07 AM EDT up reply actions

So you think Sanchez has improved, yet we havent seen it bacause of the inept O Line?

Most of his INTs look like rookie mistakes to me but I guess it was the O Lines fault or Schotty’s before Mangold got hurt. Gonna come a time when this kid is gonna run out of excuses.

Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, and you will not be counting days, or months, or years, but milleniums in a place with no doors.

I'm not going to argue with you on this one..

If you think our O-line adequately protected our QB and put him in a position to succeed, there is no changing your mind.(Because the obvious fact of the matter is they didn’t)

O Line was awful and should get most of the blame

I think Callahan isnt getting enough blame for this crappy line. He was lauded when we had a line full of all pro’s yet he hasnt developed any replacements. People are quick to blame Tanny but perhaps he was going by what his genius line coach was telling him. As Ive numerous times tonight, this guy had to have input on the Vlad pick and he hasnt shown any improvement under Callahan at all.

Should you choose to test my resolve in this matter, you will be facing a finality beyond your comprehension, and you will not be counting days, or months, or years, but milleniums in a place with no doors.

by YankeesJets on Oct 3, 2011 2:50 AM EDT up reply actions

I agree the O-Line has looked to be our greatest weakness on the entire team..

As the coach of that unit Callahan should get some more of the blame. The Vlad pick is looking like its turning out to be awful. He has done okay turning Slauson into a decent starter…not great by any means but passable which is more then we can say for the other 2/5 of our line at the moment. We picked up Slauson in the 6th round and Vlad in the second. If we were getting even 6th round value out of Vlad and he was a passable starter and we could sit hunter on the bench I think our line would be a lot better, but the fact of the matter is we are not. I think we need to pick someone up to help supplement our line, I don’t understand why we aren’t bringing in some veteran’s at least for a look at this point. Even if we are going to continue playing Hunter for not Baxter and Vlad aren’t really cutting it for Depth.

he had no time! sanchez has been doing very well this year, even though the line can’t hold the rush for 3 seconds. baltimore has a great defense and there was even less time to throw. there is only so much a qb could do.

The pick 6 that sealed the game is entirely on Sanchez

Maybin just got us the ball and Sanchez made an awful decision that was pretty much the end of the game. Im sick of the excuses, Matt friggin Hasselbeck and the Titans beat this same Ravens defense and they dont have an all time O Line. Haseelbeck threw for over 350 yards too.

well

ben friggin rothlesberger and sam friggen bradford couldn’t do anything either. not to mention flacco (aka bert) couldn’t do anything either. i agree it was a bad decision, but he had to rush that throw, and he couldn’t follow thru since he was hit. if the o-line could stand for 3 seconds, we might not have been losing in the first place

what?
If someone just started watching football and came here, they would think Sanchez has Brady’s resume

how bout the fact he had 2 seconds to throw the whole night and that he is a 3rd year qb who just got the okay to make audibles. i think you expect brady, and if you want brady, you should see how much time he had to throw yesterday. give sanchez that time, and you will see good numbers.

The Line is the excuse this week

There was limited improvement last year and I dont see any this year. The kids accuracy is atrocious and even when he had Mangold and time to throw he was either locking on WRs or overthrowing them. Im not expecting him to be Brady, Im just expecting improvement in year 3. I mean you cant blame all his picks on the line, they have been awful picks.

Are you kidding?

This guy has looked awful all year long. He has thrown a bad pick in all four games. Conventional logic says you need to take a better look at the kid, because you are making it like he is playing his best football. Every QB deals with drops, Sanchez still cant read defenses and also still locks onto his WRs. He also still doesnt protect the football.

no i never said that. he can, even though you think otherwise, read defenses, as his stats in the first 3 games prove. his stats are a improvement from his stats last year, wether you believe it or not. i brought you stats. you are bringing me some things you see from the game. of course he has faults, he does, at times, make bad decisions, but he is a young qb. the fact that he has been playing this well with no O-Line and a predictable O cordinator, i think you shouldn’t be overreacting

It's certainly not over

but several adjustments need to be made, and I don’t know if that can be done with our roster or anyone left swimming in the bottom of the free agent pool. There’s no decent trade bait that I’m aware of, so I’m left with the impression we will likely be a middle of the pack or slightly above average team by the seasons conclusion.

I’m not holding my breath on the playoffs, but I’m not dismissing them as out of reach or even entirely unlikely just yet. But something drastic has to happen.

Well said

Superbowls are not won in October so we aren’t completely done by any stretch. I think we’ll right the ship and as bad as we played there’s nowhere to go but up, so there’s something. The the next games are winnable, will not be easy of course but I think the worst is over. 5-2 is still a possibility but I’d be happy with 4-3, going into the bye because we had a pretty rough opening half of the schedule.

by Melrenee on Oct 3, 2011 8:37 AM EDT reply actions

Hold the line

Our Offensive Line is obviously the weakest link in the chain right now (the defensive line will need to be focused on another day), that was evident in the pre-season, we saw it was coming last year with so many hurries but it’s only deteriorated. Dallas took advantage of it in week 1, Oakland played aggressive up front last week (despite a defense that’s been suspect, but one less fumble by Cromartie on a kick return and it’s a different game) and Baltimore’s plan seems to have been to pack the front and blitz more often than not. Hopefully it gets better as the season progresses, but they’ll be a liability for the first half of the season at least. But while the offensive line collapses in 1.5-2 seconds per play against aggressive defenses, we’re not going to develop a running game, and the passing game will have too many hurries and throwing into traffic to buy some breathing room.

That said, it’s not time to panic yet.. the Pats bring a spread out passing game, but their defense isn’t any better than Dallas, certainly not half as good as Baltimore. We have a number of suspect defenses on the schedule (Kansas City, Denver, Miami, New England, Buffalo), a middle-of-the-road overperformer (San Diego) and a panic-in-PA underperformer (Philly), and a true middle of the pack defense (Giants). Washington and Baltimore are the only real threats on defense on the schedule, and we’ve weathered one of those battles – with a loss albeit. One down, one to go.

IF the offensive line can show some improvement during the year and we can get more plays with Greene or LT stepping up for a block, then there’s every reason to believe we can win more games than lose.. 10-6 or 11-5 is a fair guess looking at our opponents at this stage. Our passing game is 16th right now, with the line in this state. I doubt we’ll be top 5 any time soon, but an extra second and a half (which seems an eternity after watching the Baltimore game) will help plays develop downfield, and perhaps we’ll see some semblance of a running game develop afterward.

anything that is mean nowadays is considered trolling, why can’t it just be a general disapproval. I get a warning because i dont explain myself. No one wants to hear/read a long explanation but here goes.
Why is this post stupid? 3 parts
1. the first part is completely unnecessary. In essence by using all caps marginalizes fans who actually think the jets are doing bad (like me).
2. not only are the caps unnecessary but the general language, freaking talking like a 5 year old. No one is like that, you took people’s general concerns and made them seem stupid.
3. I don’t want to go more into it but pretty much the jist is that this is something I don’t want to see on a jet blog site. Making fun of jet fans, were all jet fans (mostly), hell I’ll see this same garbage spouted by an ESPN analyst later today. It doesn’t need to be said here. I know I’ll get blasted and people will say “dude its a joke” but there is legit concern and making it seem like nothing by writing in all caps and speaking like a 5 year old doesnt do anything except get me pissed off. I'm not saying it's good satire

but it’s satire, which is something clearly lost on you if you read your post from a neutral standpoint.

In general, a toned down version of the “if you don’t have something nice to say” applies here. If you had simply said 1-3 to begin with you’d never have gotten warned in the first place, because that’s an actual disagreement of substance, not just being a jerk.

But frankly “this is stupid. go home.” is entirely against guidelines, is a personal attack devoid of substance, and it’s completely unwelcome here. If you can’t adjust to the standards or have to cop an attitude for being called out for your pointless comment then neither are you.

NOT GOOD

The Jets ARE in serious trouble. Flacco is not a blooming QB, he is nothing without their running game. Sanchez is nothing without a running game. Sanchez can not carry the Jets offense on his back without a good running game, he is just average. The Jets may look better on offense against the Pats, but Sanchez can not keep pace with Brady. If Brady does not turn the ball over, the Jets will lose for the third time. The Jets could be 3 and 4 by the break. They are not as good as last year and will not make the playoffs. Sanchez is not the answer without a good running attack!

by PVS53 on Oct 3, 2011 11:36 AM EDT reply actions   1 recs

I disagree

This game excluded he’s done quite well but you can’t run the ball without run blocking and you can’t have stellar passing performances without pass protecting. The line is terribly flawed not the QB but he’s a perfect scapegoat if you just want someone to blame.

Injurys

Every team has injurys on defense and offense. The mark of a good team is to be able to perform at a good level with what you have. If Sanchez can not perform with the shortcomings on the offensive line then it looks like a long season for the Jets. A great QB make adjustments to compensate for deficiencies on the O-line. I can not is it in Sanchez.

Ridiculous

Give me a break. Believe all you want. I say you aren’t being realistic and that you have your head stuck in the sand like an ostrich.

We obviously didn’t watch the same game. The team looked flat out awful for most of the game. Obviously, some plays were made, but every time the Jets made a good play and looked to be getting back in the game, they self destructed. Where was the vaunted rushing defense??? They were ranked 31st in the NFL entering the game. If it were possible, they’d drop a lot lower after last night’s game. Pouha and Devito were beaten like drums all game long. Sanchez made bad decision after bad decision. The OL sucks.

We are now 1/4 of the way through the season, and the team has yet to play a solid game. I discount the Jags game because they are so awful. Even if you count that game as solid, that is only 1 of 3. Against opponents of any quality the team has struggled mightily. The issue isn’t that there isn’t potential or talent (at least at some positions), but that the team isn’t performing. They don’t look prepared mentally or physically for games.

Yet, guys like you want to tell everyone to chill out and that all is going to be ok. You’re fooling yourself. Things are not gonna be ok. I’ve been a Jets fan and football fan long enough to see the handwriting on the wall. Rex obviously doesn’t have all the answers that you homers think he does. The fact that he brought back Maybin and that he played a significant number of snaps last night, shows just how wrong he was about the pass rush. The fact that the OL is so god awful and the team can’t even run the ball shows what a poor job both Tanny and he did in putting together the team. NONE of the weaknesses in last year’s team were addressed during the offseason. Zero. In fact, the point can easily be made that the team is weaker than last year, in spite of their being perhaps greater talent.

IMO this season is over. This team isn’t going anywhere. Even though Sanchez isn’t all that good, he’s gonna be out with a major injury before the halfway mark and the Jets will be starting Brunell or O’Connell. The D has been exposed. They can’t stop the run. The only hope for that is if Ellis quickly learns to keep his pad level low and replaces Pouha at NT. Maybin got some pressure last night, but I don’t know if that is gonna make enough of a difference.

The bottom line is that the team is in disarray. Rex evidently is clueless about turning things around. His scheme isn’t working, his over-hyping his players’ abilities is back-firing, and the team isn’t playing anywhere near where it has in the past. The lack of depth on the OL and the lack of talent and speed at OLB, the pass rush, and S has been exposed.

Rex’s bringing back Maybin at least gives me some hope for the future that he has realized how wrong he was and the team must get a natural pass rusher with speed at OLB. He should be realizing the need for a better RT and depth on the OL, too. Hunter is flat out awful and stupid to boot. Ducasse is a bust. Slauson is marginal.

Coaching decisions and game plans are mixed at best. IMO, the Lions the Bills, the Bucs and a number of other teams are all better than the Jets at this point and closer to being real SB contenders. Heck with the way they are playing versus how the Jets are playing, if the Panthers had even half the D talent the Jets do, they’d be more of a SB contender than the Jets.

Did You watch the 4th quarter. The Ravens ran the ball almost every play, gaining about 5 yards a carry and the Jets knew they were running the ball. They controlled the clock and the Jets could do nothing. Defense wins the big games not offense.

Disagree

I usually agree with you on most things but today only on offence. The defence really didnt look bad they gave up only 13 points to the Balt offence and the touhdown came after we gave them the ball deep in or zone. While they weren’t super they played pretty well especially since they were probably disgusted at how the game was going. They kept us in the game including a touhdown on an int return.
However the offence is what killed us and there just aren’t any solutions that I can see for this year. We will probably end up 8 and 8 or 9 and 7 for the year as the majority of the team is sound. However ven if they make the playoffs don’t expect to go to far unless some miracle pops up to help the OL.

No

Two years ago, I hadn’t spotted any of Rex’s weakenesses yet. The team was playing well even when they lost.

Last year, I had hope, but didn’t expect them to win.

This year, I had extreme doubts going into the season when I think they screwed the pooch in the offseason. I thought keeping Holmes over BE was a mistake. I thought (and still do) that spending all that time and energy pursuing Nnamdi was a mistake. He has been mediocre so far. Meanwhile, the Jets ignored addressing their other needs. I had a lot of doubts about Turner and Ducasse with limited practice. I believed the Jets should have brought in a vet RT to challenge and push them. After Turner was injured, I said they needed to bring in a vet to replace him as a backup OG/C, and to be there in case Moore struggled following his surgery. I thought it a mistake that the Jets didn’t address the OLB or S positions. I thought it a mistake that Rex was happy with his pass rush. I thought it a mistake that BS wasn’t fired following last season. I’ve thought that all of Rex’s predictions were stupid.

In short, I’ve lost a lot of respect, trust and faith in Rex. I’m now seeing him as closer to his dad than we’d like to think, and that isn’t good. His dad was a great DC, but not that bright and not a very good HC. I have zero trust in BS as the OC. I’ve had a lot of questions about Tanny and his knowledge (or lack thereof) of talent or of how to build a roster.

At this point in the season, I’m not sure they can fix the OL in time to get on a run and go anywhere in the playoffs. They may be able to tighten things up on D and play at a consistently higher level, but they probably aren’t going to be able to improve the pass rush unless Maybin proves to be a revelation. They’re not going to be able to do anything about the S position or lack of athleticism and speed in the LBers unless they start playing Mauga.

In addition, for the most part, the Jets have been lucky with injuries over the last several years. This year, they’re suffering lots of injuries: Turner, Mangold, Thomas, and soon Sanchez. It just doesn’t seem to be in the cards for the Jets to turn things around and get it done this year.

They could make the playoffs, but would probably get bounced in the first game.

In my mind this isn’t panicking, it’s merely a continuation of the doubts I’ve had since the end of last season. I’m not upset or jumping off a ledge. I think I’m being realistic or perhaps fatalistic. If you or others see that as pessimistic, so be it.

I love this team, and want them to win it all. I just haven’t seen the necessary moves or the caliber of play this season to give me much hope that they will be able to.
