why are they wasting our time with these articles?

that thing was pathetic. i didn’t even bother going to the next one, i’d probably see the caption “well i kind of like him but i think he is a jerk since he was in gq even though it was for charity it was jerkish”. they need to put up more of ryan alferi’s articles over there. it’s a shame this guy is a “featured columist” and he’s not.

Its because

Slideshows get a high number of individual page hits. He could very easily make it a list of 2 pages with 25 people on each page. But the slideshow forces you to click through every individual entry meaning more time spent on BR and more pageviews for BR. That’s why he’s a “featured columnist”

BR's business model

Is pretty much to get as many people writing. Quality isn’t important because the more times you get a key phrase like “New York Jets” written, the higher your website goes on search engines like Google. That means more hits and more money. It doesn’t matter how good or bad the piece is about the Jets.

In fairness to them, it seems like they actually are making something of an effort to improve their product by spending to bring in really good writers like Ryan Alfieri. The problem is there is still plenty of stuff like this out there.

BR is also good at SEO optimization

It doesn’t matter that much how many people you have writing if you aren’t good at gaming SEO.

But the whole reason behind the million slideshows at BR is quite simply because it’s an easy trick to add pageviews, and BR isn’t alone in abusing slideshows like that.

i wish i didn’t look at the other so called jerks. warren sapp? michael vick is other things, but how is he a jerk. i’ve never heard anyone ever call him a jerk. jack tatum a jerk? and MIKE SINGELTARY? wow, this is pathetic

Oh, and during his play years with the Chicago Bears, he was one mean linebacker—which could also lead to people calling him a jerk.

remember the play were seymor didn’t here the whistle and wrestled him to the ground? this is the play he is talking about. the best thing about this is that he was a “angel” on the patriots but he went to the “dark side” when he went to the raiders.
