Before you jump on me and tell me I'm crazy, read what I have to say. I personally do not think it's that outlandish of a situation and it could change our franchise around. Obviously this is highly dependant on which team finishes in last place and has the ability to pick Andrew Luck number 1 overall in the draft.
If the Colts are that team, I do think that the Colts would listen to offers either for that number 1 pick or for the rights to Peyton. Thinking about their future, one has to assume they start the Andrew Luck era and trade Manning for the a boat load of compensation. After all, if people are that high on Andrew Luck I doubt hes going to be sitting on anyone's bench for an extending period of time.
Considering the Jets have little faith in Sanchez, I think we should make a strong push to see if something can be done to get him in a green and white uniform. In the beginning I liked Mark as a QB, I just dont believe our front office / coaches have much faith in him. Yes hes great in the playoffs, but I'm not seeing the progression I would like to see. I will concede that he could be much better with a new offensive coordinator though....
If we could get Peyton Manning for 2 first round draft picks and a couple of players I would consider doing it. Obviously it depends on how he comes back from injury which would be hard to gauge since hes not playing and won't play before a situation like this would unfold. Seeing what Carson went for though I bet the colts asking price would be alot more....
As an organization the Jets need to decide if they like Mark or not. If they do get him a competant offensive coordinator who puts Sanchez in position to succeed. Bringing in Burress has looked to be a massive mistake. With all the cap space they should have kept braylon. Hindsight bias I know. Our leadership issues could also be addressed if Rex would quiet down a bit. Its hard for anyone to lead when Rex has the biggest voice in the room.
So with that....would you want the Jets to make a play for Peyton if it were possible??
