The Jets Cure all. Matt Forte?

The trade deadlines almost up. Thats got me thinking about the teams long term future. Sometimes I like to skip a few years and look at the depth of the team. There are a few concerns I have about a number of positions. The first one that jumped out at me was actually RB. With LT almost asuredly retired within the next 2 years our depth looks as follows. Greene being the feature back. Mcknight the third down back and then there is... Bilal Powell? This isn't good for the future of the team. I'm not sold in the slightest on Greene. In fact I'm selling him, to the highest bidder to be frank. Unless you consider the extra 3 or 4 yards he gets you from trucking the LB after perfect line blocking, he gives you little else. What did he get you lastnight against the worst the league has to offer. 97 yards? Thats your feature back on a good day against a pitifull team Jets fans? This team needs better than that for the position. He's gained weight over the last few years and is solidifying his true role as a goalline back. Thats all he is and all he ever will be. Case closed. Now lets broaden the scope a bit and look at the QB. Mark is in his 3rd year. It's time we start forming an opinion on who he is and who he will continue to be for the future. I can tell you who he's not and thats a probowl QB. Face facts Jets fans. He's gritty, confident and strait up ballsy in the playoffs. But thats all. This kid needs an all pro running game with a feature back he can throw to for the future of the franchise. Greene is not that guy. And at his best Joe McKnight might be that guy but still lacks the size to stay healthy in this league and be the load bearer for a Ground and Pound team. Now for a moment in your heads sell Greene up the river and put Matt Forte in his place. Look at what Matte does for his team. He makes up over half of his teams offense. He averages over 10 yards a catch and just under 5 yards a carry with the BEARS! With that O-line! Are you kidding me? The kid wants DeAngelo Williams money. Thats 8 mill per. Give this kid the Tanny special which is a 4 to 5 year deal with half of it G money and watch this offense become what it's supposed to be. With a stunning turn of events you could have him wearing Jets green before the deadline. He wants a new contract. But at the very least we could pick the kid up in the offseason after he throws his fit in Chicago. He's the cure all. The ticket to the ring. My overall thought is this. The team needs a dynamic feature back more than anything else right now and Matt is up for a new contract. He fixes everything that can be fixed with this offense and even fits Shotty's style. Tell me otherwise.
