Jets Re-Sign WR Michael Campbell to Practice Squad

HOUSTON - AUGUST 15: Wide receiver Michael Campbell #84 of the New York Jets drops a wide open pass in the endzone in the fourth quarter as he beat free safety Torri Williams #42 of the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium on August 15, 2011 in Houston, Texas. Breaking news, folks. Per Jenny Vrentas, via Twitter,  the Jets will re-sign WR Michael Campbell to the practice squad. Campbell was cut last week but with a little bit of roster-shuffling, will now return. Campbell is most famous for dropping an easy touchdown pass from QB Greg McElroy in the waning moments of the Texans pre-season matchup that would have won the game.

This obviously isn't huge news, but is clearly a response to the Mason-to-Texans trade that went down last night. There is still an open roster spot on the 53-man roster, so we'll keep you updated with who the Jets decide to use in that spot. Personally, I'd like them to move WR Scotty McKnight there and activate DT Kenrick Ellis to Mason's spot, but we'll see.
