for all those that are not used to this, welcome to the life of a jet fan. still, this was in no way a typical jet season. i never ever remember any more excitement i ever had following any team ever. who would think as rex ryan walked into are lives 2 years ago that we would go to BACK-TO-BACK AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES!!? i would have told you your crazy, mad. what is the odds that the new york jets, at of all teams go to the title game twice, in a row. but we are a new team, a team that is forging an identity, instead of living in its past. who thought that the jets had a shot at the playoffs at 4-6? who would have thought that the only thing seperating us and the super bowl would be arguably the best quaterback ever? when was the last time all (we went 3 for 3, sanchez, greene and slauson a 6th round pick who is starting) are draft picks in one draft turned out to be competitive, let alone key players. have you ever been so excited in an offseason? yes they claim we won the SB in the offseason, but have we ever felt that? NO !! how many times did the jets come down to the wire, and won? before last year, how many times have we seen them lose down the wire? i cant count that many. How did we win that texan game? How did we beat the lions? How do we win in the playoffs with 53 seconds remaining down by 1? those games were magicalWhat was sweeter than beating the patriots, i mean are most hated rival, at their own home after they killed us earlier? who didn't cackle with laughter at brady's face in the sports illustrated cover? i did.
i will always remember these moments, till the day i die or i get amnesia. This is a season to be proud of. sure it hurts, i was crying in a puddle a few minutes ago. but we are now something we havent been for a while now, and that is all due to rex ryan. sure, he talks a lot and his remarks dont always come true, but he is the best jet coach ever, even better than tuna. tuna was a coach, but rex is a JET coach. he is giving us a identity, something that we havent had since the sack exchange, and that was only 4 guys. for the first time since joe namath we have a qb who can play in the clutch, as he showed to night. i mean he is already tied for the most road wins for a qb in the poast season in his 2nd year! thats crazy.
we might never see them win it all, they might get stoped short or fuse out for all i care. but i know im going to cherish this while it lasts, and i think it will for a while, since i believe this is a special team.
