FOXBORO MA - JANUARY 16: Braylon Edwards #17 and Santonio Holmes #10 of the New York Jets celebrate on their way to defeating the New England Patriots 28 to 21 victory over the New England Patriots during their 2011 AFC divisional playoff game at Gillette Stadium on January 16 2011 in Foxboro Massachusetts. That headline might ask what looks like the craziest question ever. How can a team letdown in the AFC Championship Game with a trip to the Super Bowl on the line?
That victory yesterday was not your average win. The Jets were playing to exorcise a decade's worth of demons against the coach who spurned them. They were looking to avenge a humiliating loss six weeks earlier. They were looking to avoid elimination at the hands of their most bitter rival. They were looking to do it in front of that rival's home fans. They spent the week talking about how big it was. This wasn't idle chatter. This game meant everything to them.
It's going to be tough to come down after a win like that. This team needs to forget about yesterday quickly and focus on the Steelers.
