EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - OCTOBER 11: (L-R) Damien Woody #67 and Shonn Greene #23 of the New York Jets celebrates after Greene scored a 23-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter against the Minnesota Vikings at New Meadowlands Stadium on October 11, 2010 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Jenny Vrentas tweeted some surprising and disappointing news today.

Damien Woody will be placed on IR. Achilles injury in opposite leg. #nyj

You have to give him credit for working so hard to get back for the Colts game and feel badly for him to see his season end with a new injury.

Wayne Hunter played very well in 3 starts in Damien's absence during the end of the year, handling the likes of Lamarr Woodley and Julius Peppers. He did much to justify Rex Ryan's claims that he is the best backup tackle in football. That experience will come in handy now, and the Jets can have confidence in him.

Let's not pretend this is irrelevant, though. Woody was one of the best tackles in the league this year.
