A Look at My Fantasy Team

Cbs_medium

We had our Gang Green Nation fantasy league draft last weekend. I wanted to share the team I selected with you.

Manning, Eli QB NYG

Jackson, Steven RB STL

 Mendenhall, Rashard RB

Foster, Arian RB HOU

Marshall, Brandon WR MIA

 Nicks, Hakeem WR NYG

Cooley, Chris TE WAS

 Feely, Jay K ARI

Giants DST

Roethlisberger, Ben QB

Forsett, Justin RB SEA

 Forte, Matt RB CHI

Britt, Kenny WR TEN

Jones, Jacoby WR HOU

Wallace, Mike WR PIT

This pretty well reflects a number of my drafting philosophies. In this age of splitting carries, there aren't a ton of legimitate number one backs out there. Grab as many as you can. That way you have depth. I don't love my receiving corps, but I tried to target guys with real breakout potential. Roethlisberger is going to be available for great value as a backup because he'll miss the first four games, and a lot of people won't want to root for him. I love Cooley as a value guy if you can't get Dallas Clark or Antonio Gates. I think Donovan McNabb will target him a lot. I picked my defense and kicker in the last two rounds. I mentioned it in an earlier post, but the difference between the best and number twelve defense just isn't big in fantasy. Plus they fluctuate wildly from year to year. A defense that will emerge is always out there. You can always just play the matchups too.

what a league

You must be playing a bunch of idiots to let you draft such good players…
I would never be able to get such a good draft in my league

by KZL on Sep 4, 2010 8:36 AM EDT reply actions

before you start calling people idiots you should know the facts about the draft:

1.there were a few teams that weren’t there which prompted the dreaded auto-pick
2.a few owners had(not by choice) the computer randomely selecting players for them
3.first there was no time limit then all of sudden there was only a 30 second limit, which had many owners scrambling to make a pick
4.the owners that were not present didn’t realize the preset rankings had them taking 3 qbs in a row and the Jets D/ST in the 2nd round.

So before you start calling other people idiots you should know what happened during the draft.

You know whats even worse?

the ESPN Autopick, from everyone I know that’s in one of their leagues, if your not there you end up with 8 RBs, which thankfully is the max amount of players you can have for one position.

I’ve never done a league through ESPN. But it doesn’t surprise me. I shouldn’t be complaining, I’m one of the owners that benefited from it.

You have to prepare for the draft by ranking your players if you aren’t going to attend, and the 30 second limit for picks was adequate time.

Erm, except who’s gonna be throwing to him? Definitely go Meachem, the Saints are playing Minnesota and god knows who their CB2 is.

It's the blogs league

Further, it’s football related and we’re bored waiting for the regular season. And many of us have leagues so we’re interested.

Beyond that, it has nothing to do with GG. Guess you’ll have to be a big boy and deal with that.

Meh starting squad, but great bench

I hope you’re planning on starting Wallace over Nicks as soon as Roethlisberger comes back… Steven Jackson’s the type of RB I’d KILL to have on my REAL team but for fantasy I would try to avoid unless he somehow fell a few rounds. He just doesn’t score TDs, and there’s no prospect of that at all this year. Maybe if it’s a PPR league, but I dunno the rules of this one. But you’ve got at least one or two guys on the squad that are gonna break out this year hopefully!

Certainly better than my team...

stupid Philly airport had no wireless internet, stupid auto picks took Sidney Rice in the fourth round as my second WR option, and for some reason took two kickers early, my team sucks.

Autopick is the worst

One year it picked Curtis Martin for me….which would have been great if he wasn’t RETIRED!!! It also always picks multiple DEFs or Ks…who would ever do that unless you had an unlimited bench?

by BWJ on Sep 4, 2010 2:15 PM EDT up reply actions

2 DSTs are ok, but they actually picked me 3, and 2 kickers. They wasted a friggin pick on Washington’s DST.

by Judgegavel on Sep 5, 2010 10:10 AM EDT up reply actions

who's the better choice?

Finley or Keller at TE? I have a chance to keep either one. Or i can choose Celek from phily.
