Braylon Edwards Issues Public Apology
Braylon has issued a public apology:
"I would like to apologize to my family, my fans, Mr. Johnson, Mike Tannenbaum, Rex Ryan and my teammates,'' Edwards said. "I will respect the process that is in place and will fully cooperate with the league.
"I am truly happy to be a member of the New York Jets and I hope I have the opportunity to retire here. I now have to regain the trust of my teammates, the organization and the fans. ''
This is a good first step for Braylon. We've gone over the details, but it was important he got this out. I personally hope Braylon does have the opportunity to retire here. I've become a big fan over the last year with his general attitude and his performance. Of course this situation subtracts some of that.

I've been impressed
by him since he’s been here and I would also like to see him retire a jet
Good Words, but Actions Will Tell
Good first step by Braylon and all we can hope is that he can follow up with good behavior (not just a PR mea culpa a la the typical politico). His play on Sunday was great and he showed he can be the weapon we thought he could be. I’m sure, though, that many others were concerned that with this mini “crime spree” (the 15 yarder, followed by another taunt, followed by a DWI) combined with the “not surprised” comment from one of his teammates belies some trouble beneath the surface.
We’ve taken on some talented, but potentially volatile players in Braylon, Holmes and Cro. Rex is going to have to keep them on the straight and narrow so they get “dragged up” and don’t drag down others (like Brick and Kraken).
Speaking of those two, Brick had a relatively weak game and I don’t believe Kraken has a sack yet (still). Don’t they have better things to do than partying til 5am?
Minor Stuff Mostly....
….but on a championship team you want locker room leadership, not locker room distractions. Holmes, though seemingly stable, is after all on suspension for substance abuse. Cro, well he’s only been here less than 7 months. Any evidence of a return to his old ways won’t arrive until playoff time, at the earliest. Any more “additions” can subtract from a guy’s ball skills. ;)

Especially with Holmes...
I mean Cro has the issues with fighting with teammates in SD, and not getting along with Weddle and others. Certainly not big things, but some question marks.
Holmes on the other hand seems to be a great leader, I’ve never heard one negative thing about him (aside from the marijuana issues). I came away extremely impressed with him from Hard Knocks, he seemed like a very positive influence on the team, always thinking about the situation, saying all the right things, and constantly leading by both words and example.
Spot on
I agree with you. My whole point was that I don’t want the standards to slip due to the bad behavior of some. We got these guys for “pennies of the dollar” because of the little question marks. Rex just has to man the ramparts a little (see his “embarassment” quote).
Not doubt it takes some big personalities to win championships and we’ve got some HUGE ones. We just need to make sure all those personalities are pointed in the right direction.

Agreed
Why are pro athletes out at 5 in the morning anyway? Take care of your body and mind and don’t act like you’re in college, period. I’m sure all if not most of us could have been quilty of the same thing we were just lucky not to get caught. Hope he can redeem himself and commit to the team.

Here's something from Cimini via Twitter that's interesting :
rich cimini
Edwards said he usually uses personal car service, but had to drive himself Mon night because he left complex late after doing extra work.
Well it seems like Braylon forgot about the NFL’s FREE Limo Service since he was using his preferred car service….Never knew that.
Hopefully, he gets that NFL Limo Service number taped to his locker, his uniform, and HIS BEARD for the Foreseeable future.
Of course, since his License will be suspended, he won’t be in any trouble….I hope.
Sorry.... The Rich Cimini Twitter was quoted like this :

Edwards said he usually uses personal car service, but had to drive himself Mon night because he left complex late after doing extra work.
That apology was written by his Public Relations guy. Shave the Beard, act contrite , go to work and earn the trust…
You don't think he's someone who is even capable of being contrite, JetOrange?
He’s a bonehead but Steeler fans look the other way as far as Ben Rothelsberger goes for what he did(true or not)…
And Ben is a certified A-Hole from many reports.
Braylon just doesn’t strike me as that type of person….He’s an idiot, sure. But I think he’s truly sorry for what happened because it brought trouble to the Football team he wants to stay with for the Rest of his career….
Just saying…
The beard is AWESOME. And by the looks of it, it hasn’t slowed him down on the field one bit.

He let down his teammates,
so for now, I’ll have to hold it against him.
Darrelle Revis once won a game of Connect Four in three moves.
But he will remain one of my favorite players
as long as he stays a Jet.
