Mostly meaningless preseason game Q&A with Bleeding Green Nation
I'm JimmyK, writer for Bleeding Green Nation, the Eagles site on SB Nation. Living in North Jersey, I'm sure I'm neighbors with a few of you. It's my understanding that the Jets are mostly sitting their starters (as are the Eagles), so this game will really be little more than a last look at the guys that on the 53-man bubble.
Nevertheless, as a blogger it's the preseason for me too, and I need to sharpen my Q&A skills for the real thing, haha. If you have any questions for me, please fire away.

I missed the first half of my fantasy draft
and I ended up with Kolb as my starting QB. How should I feel about this situation?
Darrelle Revis once won a game of Connect Four in three moves.
For fantasy purposes, I see the QB position being about 7 deep for the really good ones, and then a decent dropoff to the next 2 QB’s, and then it falls off a cliff after that… In 4 tiers…
Tier 1 – Brees, Rodgers
Tier 2 – Manning
Tier 3 – Romo, Schaub, Brady, Rivers
Tier 4 – Kolb, Flacco
There are 2 reasons that Kolb should be liked universally…
- He may very well have the best weapons in the passing game in the entire NFL. We’re talking about DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Brent Celek, LeSean McCoy as a really nice receiving option out of the backfield, the extremely underrated Jason Avant as the 3rd WR. Even their fullback Leonard Weaver will give significant contributions as a receiver. They’re loaded.
- The Eagles pass the crap out of the ball. Roughly 60% of their play calls are passes. That won’t change now that McNabb is gone.
Those 2 factors alone make him a really attractive fantasy football player, and we haven’t even gotten to whether or not he’s actually good. I did a post a few months back that included video of all of Kolb’s passes last year (85 of them). I won’t try to sell you on how good he is, but if you’re interested, you can make your own judgment. Links here and here.
Greetings!
Good to see you, I lurk over at Bleeding Green Nation fairly often and you do great work over there.
My question isn’t really related to the game at all, but I figure you’re the perfect person to ask since you live in NJ! You see, my favorite team is the Jets, and my second favorite team is the Eagles. Is this, in your opinion, kosher? LOL
Thanks.
Haha, it’s kosher, I suppose. The Jets are your team, and your 2nd favorite team is in the other conference, so it’s not like there’s any kind of rivalry there whatsoever. However, if your favorite team was the Giants and your second team was the Eagles, then no, that would certainly not be kosher.
Where in NJ?
Throwbacks
I think I read an article a while ago that the Eagles will be wearing throwbacks this season. Is that still on schedule?
and the home of the... JETS!!!

If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the precipitate.

Our scrubs are better than your scrubs lol
How much playing time is Vick getting tonight?
España 2010 Campenoes del Mundo!!!
How has McCoy looked and is he ready to carry the load?
Seems like the Eagles and Jets are in very similar positions at RB with their new starters coming off a light rookie year and now being asked to be the #1 RB on their respective teams. I’m curious as to your thoughts on whether he is ready and able to become that guy. Tough shoes to fill with Westbrook gone.
There were a few days in camp where he was the best player on the field. Last year, he did a lot of dancing at the line of scrimmage. This season, he’s just hitting the hole. I think that’s the main difference, and yes, he looks ready.
That said, nobody is ever going to fill the shoes of Brian Westbrook. In his prime, he was a lot like Leon Washington x 100. If McCoy is even remotely as good as Westbrook, I’ll be thrilled.
3-0, by the way. Wooooo!
