Locker Room Access overseas
Thanks for the link regarding reporters in the locker rooms. In the EPL, not only are the reporters banned from there, but access is restricted to the players without the permission of the teams asw a rule.
Information is disseminated through spokespeople of the teams, although that becomes a little looser in the lower divisions. Those teams need more fan support to prop up their fan interest (ticket sales).
Most of the information is relayed through official sources through more “friendly” sites such as Sky sports. And it’s this way in most of the European leagues. In Cenrtal and South America, the teams also restrict access.
I’m not passing judgement, but this is why it’s highly unlikely to occur elsewhere. People like Sainz would be sideline reporters at best there, although she might get a few “unofficial” comments through her assets.
Thanks for the info.
I’m just guessing here, but I think Sainz’s tweet about being embarassed was merely because she probably has never been in a locker room before in her life.
and the home of the... JETS!!!

Adversity doesn't create character. It reveals it.
It being my home league I find it strange how the US allow access to players in the locker room. You won’t see too many reporters like her over here because you don’t get TV coverage, you’re a reporter, you get the news and then you write it up. Most news comes through newspaper sources and not glamour models on the sideline. In fact during matches we harder ever have a “sideline reporter” and if we do, it’s mostly men who stay out of the picture and just relate any “injury/substitutions”
The “Eye Candy” comes from Sky Sports News anchors who don’t interact with the players, they relate reports and news throughout the day. They basically read a Teleprompter and that’s it. If you put these scantly clad women in locker rooms, it’s going to happen. Locker room is for the athletes here and that’s how it should be IMO. Reporters will catch the players on the way out of the stadium to get a few words or the next day in organized press conference.
I just don’t agree with reporters in the locker room, or reporters getting too much TV time. You ask the British public who the main on site reporters are for the BBC and Sky Sports and they won’t be able to tell you, go one further and ask them to link names to faces most would struggle.

HC Rex Ryan continues to be respected by players.
The players do love and respect him
However,
When the Jets committed 14 penalties in their season-opening loss to Baltimore, or when players were accused of harassing a female reporter recently, the dots are easily connected. Ryan’s Jets are painted as out-of-control frat boys.
if you’re too much of a players coach or too cozy with your players they will be undisciplined. Making players do push ups in practice isn’t going to instill game time discipline. Rex needs to somewhat distance himself from his players. He’s a coach. Not their buddy.
