Revis: Tight Hamstring, Limited in Practice
After some of us were actually ascertaining the thought of feeling optimistic about Sunday's matchup with the Cheats, Jets fans now have another thing to worry about.
CB Darrelle Revis was limited in practice today due to a tight hamstring, per Jenny Vrentas. Not surprising either, as he participated in little training camp and didn't play a snap in preseason. Revis is coming off a game with a top-tier WR in Boldin, a tough matchup for any corner, it's not a shock that he'd be a little stiff from it still.
Vrentas Tweeted the news:
CB Darrelle Revis was limited today w/a hamstring injury, Ryan said.#nyjRyan said Revis felt tightness in his hamstring. Asked if there is a chance he won't play, Ryan said "No, I didn't say that." #nyj
Asked he if expects Revis will play, he said, "Yes." Adds that he did not pull his hamstring. #nyj
.....Add it to the list. Sigh. We'll see what transpires in tomorrow's practice. I would surmise he'd be out there to at least get a sense of where he's at/how he feels, so we'll hold our breaths and wait until then.
FS Brodney Pool was also limited in practice, and his status for Sunday's game appears bleak. Hopefully we'll have better news to report tomorrow.

Oh f*** me.
We have enough to worry about with almighty WES WELKAH being covered by D’oh-martie… imagine if that turns to Kyle Wilson? I’m getting heartburn guys
Also WTF @ our DB health since Rex has taken over, last year it was Lito and Donald trading weeks being out, now it’s spreading :(
Hope I didn't jinx us
I bought tickets to this game like 6 hours ago, lol.
Wrote that artifcle slamming Florio.
And look what happens, dammit.

Maybe Wilson can cover Welker?
That’s why we got him right. I know Boldin had his way with Wilson at times (and Cromartie too), but Wilson stayed with him for the most part. His problem was not being able to find the ball fast enough on the two long passes, and having Boldin find it first and out jump him for the ball both times, but Wilson wasn’t getting beaten by Boldin. In theory, he covered him well, just never got his head around and then had a bigger Boldin go up and take the ball away from him. Welker won’t be able to do that, though of course he has elements in his game that Boldin doesn’t, so it should be interesting.
Also, Flacco eluded pressure a number of times by simply rolling out and creating an extra second or two for himself to eventually throw it away or make a completion. Brady doesn’t have that ability, and his offensive line is also questionable right now, so we should be able to hit him a lot. Fred Taylor won’t do shit, so blitz Brady, stick Revis on Moss (he’s gonna play, he’ll be fine) and play matchups. Wes Welker is really really good, but he isn’t big and tall like Boldin and Housh. Baltimore just kept throwing jump balls for their big receivers, and Boldin and Housh made some plays because of their size, Welker won’t be able to do that. Aaron Hernandez worries me, just as Heap did last week.

He will be on Welker, most of the time
With some zone/bracket coverage to help him.
Wilson jams him at the line, then gets help underneath from Scott/Smith/Harris
Don’t wanna touch on it too much because am gonna post the preview tomorrow, and it’ll be in there but excellent post and you are correct

cool, looking forward to that preview
and thanks, appreciate it
Well if rex can not blitz everyone all the time...
All out blitzs are not as effective when the offense knows that is what you are doing. If we see this type of play calling against the Pats we will get lit freaking up by Brady.

These injuries always confuse me.
It’s not like Revis doesn’t stay hydrated, have access to top therapists/masseuses, or stretch. He also runs plenty, lifts weights, and should, for all intents and purposes, have very strong hamstrings. This is not a tear or an injury caused by impact.
How the hell does he have tight hamstrings? Maybe he should take up yoga.
Or Rex is just playin' Belichick. Just a thought.
Just a thought. He puts out injury scares all the time.
Actually im more dissapointed at Pool missing more time then Revis.
He spent alot of time in camp trying to get the media to buy that he wasnt injury prone. He’s having some bad luck at a bad time. We really could have used his size in the Ravens game and we could really use him this weekend.
I saw nothing in the Ravens game that leads me to believe he injured it then. It’s probably nothing serious. Hammies suck tho.

not only do they suck, they can linger, and one day just blow.

Maybe Revis should cool his jets with the Moss talk.
Not that he can’t cover him like blanket, which obviously he can, but hamstrings go when you push them.
In fact Don La Greca on 1050 just said something I was just going to write. Revis now has affected two games:
1st game, he had to be isolated on the left side to keep him from running too much, leaving the Ravens to dictate coverage.
2nd game, now physically having some limitation with a hamstring.

Are we ready?
All pre-season while Revis held out the Jets were claiming that the Jets were preparing for the season as if he wasn’t there. That wasn’t quite evident against the Ravens, and now he may be limited (or worse) against New England and Brady.
This could be an opportunity for the secondary to step it up in the event that Revis can’t go or is limied in his play. But we all knew that without being game fit, an injury of some sort was a real possibility. An unfortunate result of the holdout.
