Jets Must Improve on Third Down This Week

If there was one glaring weakness the Jets had last week, it was their inability to perform on third down -- both offensively and defensively.

Third Down Passing:

Sanchez - 1/6, 9 yards --- 1 1st down

Flacco - 9/14, 137 yards – 9 1st down

Third Down Conversions:

Ravens - 11/19

Jets - 1/11

Can't win games that way..... especially against formidable opponents.

I think we would have done better running draws on 3rd down then

having Sanchez drop back at this point. It seems like he’s checking down when we have guys that are open or would be open if he gave them that extra split second to develop the play. What that says to me is Sanchez either A) Doesn’t trust his receiving corps or B) The game is still move too fast for him. If either of those things are true it’s a bit troublesome that he looks like a rookie still and not a Franchise QB in the making.
