80% approval? Is Rex not responsible for Schotty?

Didn’t we go through this same drill last year? Schotty needs to be sitting in a basement designing plays on XBox. We already knew this. How many losses did it take last year until Rex said maybe he’ll start focusing on the offense too? How many will it take this year?

I voted "No" because

he did progress this offense at all during the whole preseason. You may say this is Shotty’s job, which it is but it’s Ryan’s job as head coach to hold Shotty accountable. Everyone know how bad we looked during the preseason and that was everyone’s excuse. The lax attitude only works when you execute, when you don’t it makes it look like it’s detrimental to the team.

one thing for sure

pre-season performance evaluation may not be completely useless. It may actually be quite informative.

I turned on Rex once, back in November after the second Patriots game. I will never make that mistake again.

Is he responsible for this game? Yes. Schotty is his OC, not co-coach, and that shouldn’t have been allowed to happen. As for those penalties, well, it’s Rex who is supposed to keep these players disciplined and focused. But he’s still the best thing we’ve got, and that defense, penalties aside, looked unstoppable.

We should have won but we didn’t get blown out of the water and so I approve of Rex’s job. He and Schott have some tweaking to do. I did not approve of the job Schotty did. If he doesn’t get Schotty to get this offense straightened out soon then I will dissapprove of the Job Rex is doing.

Well...

The penalties killed us. That Raven’s offense really didn’t do much at all except throw the ball in the air, it was either a catch, or a penalty which was horrific to watch.

Rex, overall… great job from a defensive standpoint. penalties aside, that defense looked ridiculous. Q got his numbers as I expected. Flacco looked terrible, but did do enough to support the team.

Schotty, lol. He has all these plays but why put your QB in dumb 3rd down situations repeatedly? If Sanchez supposedly knows the playbook inside and out now, why not give him the green light. Why was I looking at LAST YEAR’S OFFENSE?! I can’t believe that ish. If you put any QB in those situations and call bogus plays on top of that, no QB could perform highly. Let the man throw. You knew what the Ravens were bringing to the plate… throw the damn ball! I say Schotty, gives Mark three plays… and let him make the calls. As a play caller, he sucks.

GANG GREEN ALL DAY!
You see, it's not about how you won the game, it's about how you played the game.... there's a difference.

I agree with everything except one point you made.

This was not last years offense. Last years offense still made attempts at streaching the field. Testing CB’s… This was nothing. It’s the only way I can explain what I saw in the passing game… “nothing”

I don't like to take anything away from Rex

But he’s not your typical head coach. He gives Shotty a long lease when dealing with the offense. Mabye bc he’s Defensive coach. Mabye bc Brian has earned his trust. But the blame from failure should always rest with the head coach. It’s his job to shoulder that blame. That being said Rex’s confidence has to be shaken in Brian and Mark. To what extent? I have no idea.

Monday morning quarterbacking here

No adjustments when the Ravens kept converting third and long. Should had went for it on fourth and one. Thats his call!! Sanchez called a timeout after finally completing a third down with 57 seconds left in the game. At that time you gave a well rested defense more rest, you got to keep them on their heels. Maybe not Rex’s call, but this is why you run the two minute offense in practice. Should had disguise some coverage to protect Wilson. Rex has shown me he’s a great motivator; but has yet to show me he can do some in game coaching to help the Jets win a game.

I agree on the 4th and 1. Our D was absolutely dominant at that point and we could have gone for the dagger. But still, we held them to only 10 freakin points!! He has to have a QB that can actually, you know… QB.

Rex is an outstanding coach and I'm not throwing him under

the bus for losing by 1 point in the opening game of the season.

Getting flashbacks....

Anyone else remember Richard Todd. Big strong kid from Alabama (like Namath) who was the Jets QB after Namath’s departure.

Anyone remember anything about him? Maybe that’s because he never made it beyond mediocraty. The plays called for him were vanilla and he stood in the pocket for way too long.

Please, Schotty, make the flashbacks stop!

Did you know that in 1982.......

When the Jets made the AFC Championship game under Walt Michaels, and when Richard Todd had his finest season in the NFL, people in the stands held up signs that said, and I quote:

“Todd is Godd!”
