Jets Being Investigated for Jets West, Actions Around Female Reporter

The league is investigating a pair of situations involving the Jets off the field.

The first involves treatment of a female reporter at team facilities:

Ines Sainz was at the Jets' Florham Park facility Saturday to interview quarterback Mark Sanchez. During the portion of practice open to the media, secondary coach Dennis Thurman purposely overthrew passes during position drills so they would land near Sainz, and according to one report, coach Rex Ryan joined in as well.

The second involves Mark Sanchez's offseason passing camp with his receivers

An unidentified team has filed a formal complaint with NFL against the New York Jets, claiming an eight-player "Jets West Camp" organized in July by quarterback Mark Sanchez violated the league's offseason training rules because coach Rex Ryan and offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer attended a couple of sessions.

These are ongoing investigations. While I'm sure some will use this to smear the organization, facts are still being compiled.

The second charge seems relatively benign. It seems like Ryan and Schottenheimer allegedly just popped into a practice. The first would be quite disturbing and upsetting if true.

First charge is ridiculous

It was a joke, beat writers were talking about it the other day.

Mind your damn business, NFL. Go away, you have more important things to deal with.

Apparently she's saying players said suggestive things to her

as well as the overthrown passes which I don’t really get.

I hate to play the asking for it card but she needs to change her outfit and stop doing makeup on the sidelines if she wants to be taken seriously.

by Bro Namath on Sep 12, 2010 5:49 PM EDT reply actions

yeah the reporter,in question is Miss Spain, the TV station that she represents reportedly has a history of doing these things, they sent a reporter to propose to Tom Brady one time, and they also did something else which I can’t remember right now. . .

I sincerely believe

Ines has made a career out of using her sex appeal. Now that she’s established in the field I seriously think she’s purposefully baiting attention from the players and staff of the teams she covers so she can cry inequality and receive publicity. In her own mind, and/or whatever producer or agent is behind her, it could further her career.

So basically, what your saying is...

Any attractive female deserves to be harassed and pretty much victimized because she had the good fortune to be born attractive? Is that about right? Yikes.

by DocOne on Sep 12, 2010 9:47 PM EDT up reply actions

If someone is being harassed or "accidentally run into" then they are a victim of at least harassment, at worst assault..

Therefore, they have been victimized. Very simple

by DocOne on Sep 12, 2010 10:26 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm not looking to get into a battle of semantics.

Generally, when I hear the word “victimized,” I think of something way more serious than throwing some footballs in the direction of a female player. I guess (?) you can define that behavior as “harassment.” Seems pretty small, but whatever.

But whatever. Your point is taken. You are a serious, serious, man. I guess the world needs people like you, too.

by Gideon Jay on Sep 13, 2010 12:30 PM EDT up reply actions

No, that’s not about right. It’s about deciding to make a career using either your brains or your tits, not pulling the bait and switch in order to exploit other people.

by nationalist88 on Sep 12, 2010 11:13 PM EDT up reply actions

Wrong.

I don’t care if she showed up naked, it doesn’t somehow make it ok for grown men, or anyone for that matter, to do or say whatever they want to her. Especially with Goodell probably still jumpy over the image hit the league took with the whole Big Ben thing. It just isn’t smart, professional or beneficial to your team. If I was you guys, as fans, I’d be pissed because you KNOW that this is gonna be nothing but distractions/questions for at least a few weeks if not longer. In a division as tough as the AFC East, I would want as little of that shit as possible. Nevermind that this girls company has been know to pull stunts like this before, because we all know that’s not how the headlines will read

by DocOne on Sep 13, 2010 12:25 AM EDT up reply actions

I think there's a difference

between recognizing the rabble baiting stunt she’s pulling and condoning what a minority of players or staff said or did. I assume they’ll be held accountable for their actions and she’ll be praised for braving adversity. If they aren’t held accountable that’s unacceptable.

by Bro Namath on Sep 13, 2010 1:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Come on dude, if she showed up naked? Don’t be a hypocrite. Do you treat the girls at church the same way you treat the girls at the stripclub? Look at them the same way? Talk to them the same way? Exactly. Neither do I.

what team is it.....hmmm.

I hope we find out because this sounds like a bicth move.

Probably an AFC East team.

the second one, if true is a fine. the first incident if true doesn't seem serious enough to get anything but a warning.

I could see the Jet haters running with this; talking about how poorly run the organization is. Watch you heard it here first.

1st charge: This wouldn’t bother me as much if it were centered around players rather than coaches. I expect better judgment from them.

2nd charger: Jerk move, Belichick. Nice of you to wait until the day before the season starts.

As opposed to getting crushed by a team then telling the league they were cheating because their LEGAL camera was a few feet from the designated area, right?

Yeah I guess timing is everything. Some people have short memories I suppose

I’ll say to you the same thing I say to Jets fans who drag out the cheating charges: Spygate is done. Let it go.

Geez man, if you’re going to troll, at least do it right. That’s not even an apt comparison.

Not trying to troll at all.

It is an apt comparison, as both teams were/are being accused of breaking the rules. And the situations are similar regarding timing and all that. And the same 2 teams are involved, although I haven’t heard anything about this new one except for here, and obviously I’m not involved in the league or any inside info so I don’t know who said what regarding Sanchez’s camp. Personally I don’t think it really matters, just like I thought the Spygate thing was way over blown. The point is, people here crying over some sort of whistle blowing when your team has been know to do the exact same thing. Just a little hypocritical, that’s all.

Two coaches watching a practice without any input or involvement is cheating? Look, it may be a rules infraction. In fact, it probably is, but breaking the rules on a technicality is not the same thing as cheating. This is a minor charge, and the consequences will be fittingly meager.

It’s not even remotely comparable to being accused of stealing defensive signals during a game, whether that happened or not.

Is being there enough cause for a fine?

I’m not sure about Rex but Schotty definitely stated he was there and watched how Mark conducted the whole thing. Is that enough for a fine?

I think

the Patriots definitely filed this complaint. You know what that tells me? They are scared of the Jets. I cannot wait for Tom Brady and the Pats to get ROCKED in week 2.

by Revis Island on Sep 12, 2010 9:53 PM EDT reply actions

The problem is, especially after Hard Knocks

Nobody is scared of the Jets. Not that you have a bad team, you definitely do not have a bad team, but you are just undisciplined and unprofessional and it will show in the final standings

DID you see her?

Ok, I know respect is a must towards female journalist.

choosing my words carefully…….if you are a professional, then dress like one. It’s like wearing a bikini and then getting offended that men are looking at you.

As for the Jets, blame goes both ways. They need to grow up a bit.

by jgjets on Sep 12, 2010 10:16 PM EDT reply actions

It's not just the way she dresses

She acts like a total bimbo too. And you just know this is going to turn into her sobbing about her dignity.

Like you said though it goes both ways. Those are grown ass men who need to watch themselves and their behavior.

by Bro Namath on Sep 13, 2010 1:31 AM EDT up reply actions

You got that right....

This was taken straight from the beer commercial on the beach (Corona, I think). And anyone knows this is how she gets interviews. T.O. specifically asked for her for an interview last season, staying away from the rest of the reporters.

Anyone see her facebook page, photos that she herself sanctioned, her newsrags’ “portrayal” of her.

In business, you’ll be treated according to your demeanor. And your attire. I don’t see the other female reporters dressed in that attire (A good thing, in some cases).

Lets not be too quick to draw patterns here. It’s not the Vikings Love Boat. And to even mention it in the same vein as Big Ben is ridiculous. What this woman has done is to give pause as to which reporters are allowed around the team and which ones are not.

Strange, I didn’t see her file complaints against against any of the La Liga teams in Mexico. But then again, I’m sure only the Jets would make suggestive comments. And that’s assuming they did.

But I do thank her for the photo shoots on the web that she herself approved. My point is the same as everyone else. To be taken seriously you need to dress and act professionally. If not, then I’ll continue to visit your web site to review your “body of work”.

Yeah but if she was in the kitchen where she belonged, this would never have happened.
