9/11/01
Today marks the ninth anniversary of the tragedies in New York, Washington, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
I will not force the writers to follow my lead if they do not want to, but I always feel there are more important things than football on this day so I will write no football posts barring the breaking of an enormous news story we must cover.

I think it’s only right this heads the website for the entire day.
Thoughts go out to the people who lost their lives, their family and friends.

The right thing to do
This is very classy of you John…the right thing to do..
I hate this day. So many terrible things happened from this day and stemmed from this day. Many Blessings to all from our Lord. May we remember the families and friends who lost so much. May we also be blessed with understanding and discernment for love of all our brothers and sisters on this earth. No matter what we may think on earth, our Lord endureth forever.
Peace
GANG GREEN ALL DAY!
You see, it's not about how you won the game, it's about how you played the game.... there's a difference.

As a Financial advisor I was actually on the phone placing trades with the WTC when it happened.
My heart goes out to everyone in New York on this day ever single year.
"The People's Poster"
If you've got a problem with one of my posts. Take a deep breath, re-read it, and make sure I'm not being sarcastic. Over reaction on your part WILL result in me stoking your fire. You have been warned.
I appreciate what you’re doing here, John. I myself I went to a reading of the names downtown this morning to mark the occasion. You are absolutely correct when you say that there are more important things in life than football. But sports in general and the JETS in particular are my escape from the inevitable tragedies in life that we all must deal with. And when I heard Peter King today report that Revis said that if he continued to play well he would likely hold out for a new contract in 2012, it made me want to throttle him (Revis). You guys are my touchstones on these matters, so let me know what you think of his comments when you feel it’s appropriate.
Next year, 9/11 falls on a Sunday so we won’t have much of a choice assuming I’m still here at that point (not that I intend to be anywhere else if I have a say). We will have to post covering the games. Whenever possible, though, I like to refrain posting on this day.
A lot of people repeat bumper sticker slogans like “I Remember” and “Never Forget” but I don’t think many people really take the time to grasp what really took place. Unless you were there or lost somebody dear to you, it might have only a peripheral impact as time goes on, even for people like me who live in the area. We go back to living our normal lives tomorrow, while those who lost somebody else carry the day forever.
Most of us who weren’t directly affected still felt something in us at the time. We thought about life and made promises to ourselves about changing the way we did things. These are small day to day things like trying to put ourselves in the shoes of another, being more understanding, not taking life for granted, etc. Let’s be honest. As time passes, those promises fade. Look at our society now. Think about the way people acted in the immediate aftermath. A lot of people have forgetten and don’t remember no matter what their bumper stickers might say. Maybe taking the time people usually read GGN to reflect on this today will make a difference.
Anyway that’s why I closed shop today. I’ll admit there might be people out there who were directly hit and use this site as a distraction. I do feel terribly and apologize if that is the case for anybody. My aim is to do more good than harm by proceeding this way.
