Who's Hot, Who's Not Wednesday
On my blog, The Jersey Jets Fan, I started a weekly post obviously called Who's Not, Who's Not every Wednesday. Hope you guys enjoy.
Who’s Hot- LaDainian Tomlinson and Shonn Greene
LT and Shonn have shown us this preseason that no matter what the situation at quarterback is, the Jets will be able to run the ball. The RB duo will be deadly this season. Shonn Greene is the type of back who can wear down a defense to the point where LT can step in and gash a big gainer. LT has answered some doubts this preseason breaking some long runs off, including a 43 yarder against the ‘Skins. I hated who we let Thomas Jones go this off-season but I don’t think were going to miss a beat this year. We will continue to be the #1 defense in the NFL and the #1 running team, the difference in an average season and a Super Bowl will lie on the play of Mark Sanchez.
Who’s Not- Kellen Clemens
It’s hard to remember for some folks, but there was a time when Kellen Clemens was the up and coming QB that was being set up to take over the reigns from Chad Pennington. Well Chad came and went, as did Brett Favre, and finally Mark Sanchez. Kellen Clemens had some opportunities here and there as a starter but never a serious run. It appeared this preseason that Kellen’s run as Jet might be over with the acquisition of Father Time Brunell, however, Kellen has taken a pay cut in order to stay with the team. I commend Kellen on taking a pay-cut and taking a big slice of humble pie as he is buried in the depth chart. You do have to feel for Clemens as he seems like a great guy and a good teammate. He just doesn’t have the skill set to ever be a starter in the NFL, in my opinion

you should change the Who’s not to Kellen’s bank account. Kellen has clearly outperformed MB, he has a better arm, understanding of the offense and the players + he has the trust of the team. They might have thought MB had more left, but after seeing training camp and preaseason it looks like they just saw away to save money by telling KC he had to take a pay cut because #3 QBs don’t make that much. From what we have seen do you see MB playing more than the required QTr before KC comes in and remains the #2 at #3 $.
Yeah i don’t get why KC had to take the bullit. Why couldn’t MB take the bullet? At least KC knows the system.
Cause O'Connel was awful
Brunnel gets to stay because he’s going to be Sanchez’s tutor. Hopefully as the season goes on Brunnel learns the system and evens oujt.
But really, it doesn’t matter who the backup is, Clemens, Brunnel, O’Connel, Ainge. If Sanchez goes down we’re fucked. They all suck.
Dominik signed me for 20 years, and all I got was a press conference and a voided contract...
Contributor to Lighthouse Hockey not sure if I'm the Sniper or the Enforcer.
I still don't think Clemens sucks.
I think he can play. I will defend that until he gets a serious chance to play. Getting thrust into leading a god awful team that had no defense, no receivers, and no running backs doesn’t count either. Remember, this guy played good games against good teams in different spots in his career. He has really never even had a fair shot at winning any type of starting job in training camp. I don’t think it’s fair to say he sucks.
Cause they had KC over a barrel. He wasn’t going to sign anywhere else for much more than the minimum, and he would have missed all of camp, so at most he’d be #3, and thats if a team even signed him, they also would probably wait till after the first game so it wouldn’t be guaranteed. It was a smart move for the jets, sucks for KC, but lets face it his play has yet to do him any better.
I hear you, I feel bad for Clemens and all,
but at the end of the day, Mike T is taking heat for being a big meanie, which is funny to me, but who gives a shit, this is about business and money. The same people who want to make Revis the highest paid corner in the NFL are criticizing the team for making Kellen take less money. Just silly.
KC
I hope not but if Sanchez went down I bet KC probably would play more than MB, a lot more is MB craps out badly. I just hope this MB is our 2nd and you will get cut is not a lot of BS so the FO can skimp on KC’s money. But seems they were willing to cut KC so who knows, almost seems that way.
