A little over a year ago, the jets got rid of Eric Mangini and hired a proven DC in Rex Ryan. Ryan with no head coaching experience and a rookie QB guided the jets to within 30min of the superbowl. He also transformed our defense into the leagues best. This we all know.
Just for fun, lets say that the Jets had given Mangini one more year to fix the ship.
They eventually finish the season at 8-8 and then they fire Mangini. It is now the magical post superbowl time of year when clubs are looking for coaches, assuming rex had taken another job, who would you rather have coaching the jets? there are a lot of top tier coaches out there without jobs.
