Jets Sign Tim Knicky, Kevin Basped Waived
According to Jenny Vrentas:
Jets sign LB Tim Knicky (Stephen F. Austin). Kevin Basped was waived yesterday.
I know a few people here, including myself were quite excited by the potential of Kevin Basped. Obviously the team saw something it didn't like. I don't know a great deal about Knicky. A walk on at Stephen F. Austin, he was an AP All-America selection
6'4, 252lb's and ran a 4.65 at his pro day. A DE at Stephen F. Austin, projected to an NFL linebacker. An UDFA this year, signed by the Packers before being released. Had a try-out with the Jets yesterday.
Not much information on him, but did find this highlight video:

Gholston seems to be on the right track
@RichCimini Rex Ryan raves about Vernon Gholston. Calls it Gholston’s best practice — ever. “Jacked up” Wayne Hunter in 1 on 1s.

damn it!!!
you guys are going to get me to start dreaming aren’t you? lol. Seriously though if this translates to the regular season this defense will be sicker than last year’s.
España 2010 Campenoes del Mundo!!!
I really don’t want to get excited with this guy, but it’s kind of hard not to when you are getting daily reports about his progress. I know people say it’s only pre-season and they are 100% right, but even showing something in pre-season is an improvement on what he has done before. Really hope he keeps it up and can finally break through.

Basped
any info on this guy from your training camp? 49ers are down a few OLB’s and could use a camp body/potential PS player. What were his strengths and weaknesses in camp thus far?

He really didn’t do much, I think he suffered a knee injury quite early as was limited in what he could do. I can’t honestly remember hearing his name at all.

I'm assuming the knee injury was minor?
I’ll try to find more…I just know that our SBNation site is probably more comprehensive (all encompassing anyways) and the users know more than a Google search will yield…so figured I’d start here.

I seem to remember him being listed on the injury report as non active quite a bit, and when he was cut yesterday, a writer from the Daily News was talking about an injury settlement. So thinking the knee injury may well be more serious than first thought.
