Mike Westhoff Extended

Cimini tweets the Jets have given special teams coach Mike Westhoff a contract extension.

Breaking:#Jets special tms coach Mike Westhoff signs 1 year ext thru '11, ESPNNY.com reports. Will retire after '11.

This was a no brainer. Westhoff is the best there is. Look at how many above average kick returners his schemes have helped create.

It's also nice to see he will get to go out on his own terms. Remember, his health forced him to retire after 2007. Then he improved enough to come back aboard just before 2008 began.

Always liked Westy. Heard an HBO exec on the radio the other day say Westy is going to be a star on Hard Knocks. Can’t wait til Wendesday.

Lets get him a ring

The guy has been in the league over 30 years and never even been to the Super Bowl.

He creates a new team every year, this 2010 should be exciting. Wilson as a punt returner, Brad Smith passing out of punt formation, eventually McKnight on kickoffs.
Little worried about gunners, Rex is shoving Clowney down Westys throat ( Wallace Wright we miss you) but Westy can scheme around that…Did they give him the contract because he brought Folk back form the dead ?

Congratulations to the best special teams coach in the league. I’ve hears his health is so much improved that he can now walk around without a cane or crutches.

Buster Posey: Let's enjoy him before he goes to the Yankees.

I wonder if the players think this is a slap in the face like the Rex/Tanny extensions were. (sarcasm)
Good move by the Jets

Since the face been revealed the game got real

Totally off subject

But today is a big day for Revis! If he is not in camp today he loses a year of eligibility.

I’m all for paying Revis and getting him in camp, but how come Mangold and David Harris are here, and he feels the need to stay home? Does he think he’s better than everyone else?

Buster Posey: Let's enjoy him before he goes to the Yankees.
