Santonio Hits the Field
Santonio Holmes made his training camp debut today.
Santonio Holmes was excused from the first five practices of training camp, to be with his 8-year-old son, who just had surgery (more on that later). But he made sure to make his presence known in his first practice back.In 7-on-7 drills, he made a diving catch in the back of the end zone on a Mark Sanchez pass, with cornerback Dwight Lowery on coverage. Sanchez sprinted to the end zone and jumped on him, while the crowd in attendance cheered.
Holmes lined up with the first-team offense in the first rep of 11-on-11s but worked with both the first and second team, as coach Rex Ryan indicated would be the case.
It's nice to hear Santonio was out there. It's going to be important for him to get as many reps as possible to get comfortable with the system, his quarterback, and his role. His son is way, way, way more important, though. It's great to hear that he is doing better.

His arrival signals one thing...
It’s gut check time for Braylon Edwards. Braylon has to make a giant step forward from this point on. He must fight for Marks attention on the field and not let the “new toy” be the center of infatuation. Im sure he will show his drive, leadership and comitment on the field but he will have to weather the media storm till well into the season when these two COULD be fighting for a spot on the team next season. The perfect storm has arrived!
