I was discussing the Revis situation this morning and came to this conclusion: In perhaps the most hyped up off-season the NY Jets have EVER had, Darelle Revis is choosing to hold out for money in lieu of taking the field for a chance to win the Super Bowl.
According to Vegas today, the Jets are 11:1 to win in all in February. In my 23 years as a Jets fan, that's the best 'chance' I've ever seen them have. And truthfully, i think it's the best we'll see for the next 10 years. So, you could make the assessment that this is the Jets best chance [prior to Week 1] to win it all, based on hype, talent, and expectations.
Darelle Revis is choosing to by-pass potentially his best chance to ever win the Super Bowl, for a few million dollars. This isn't the Yankees refusing to pay a superstar that could help them win it all. In fact, it's the opposite. The Jets WANTS to pay Revis. They WANT him to be a Jet for life. But instead Revis is choosing greed over a ring.
The point of this post is to hear what you think about by-passing your best chance at a ring, for money. How many players would do this? Does Revis think he's the missing piece, and that the Jets aren't going anywhere without him? That's my feeling. He's a greedy, egotistical person right now. He'll be forgiven when he takes the field and shuts down Boldin/Moss/Marshall. Til then? I hate him.
