Jets Cut Roster To 75, Laveranues Coles Left Out In The Cold.

PrintAccording to Jenny Vrentas, the Jets have cut their roster down to 75, and among the cuts was seasoned vet Laveranues Coles:
Coles was released today as the team pared down its roster to 75 . The Jets also waived receivers Marcus Henry and Aundrae Allison, as well as defensive lineman Rodrique Wright.
Coles really wasn't give much of a chance to prove himself, obviously he didn't show Rex enough in training to make him want to keep him around.In his 3rd stint with the Jets, many expected him to provide suitable cover for Santonio Holmes during the first four weeks of the season.
Marcus Henry wasn't a surprise to me, but I thought Aundrae Allison would be given more time after coming back from a serious injury last year.
After Pitoitua went down for the season, Rex went to Rodirique Wright to ask him if he wants to make this team, it seems he didn't give Rex the answer he was looking for.
First cuts down, but plenty more to come.

Not sure to be surprised about Coles, but who is going to be the WR3 for the first 4 games? Smith or Clowney?
or maybe Antonio Bryant who was just released by the Bengals.

yeah it was around 8 mil, so he could actually just sit this season out and try for a contract next year

Would rather see Coles the as 3rd WR....
At least until Holmes returns. But if Sanchez doesn’t improve his timing soon, I’m not sure it’ll really matter.
Like BL3ACH’s D line comment, though.
Don't like the idea of clowney staying over Coles
but I’ll trust the team I guess. Not that they’ve been impressive since the initial moves and first draft pick.
I hope he comes back, even in a limited role. But I don’t think he wants to come back now.

I kinda like Clowney but he hasn’t shown much and he’s been here for some time now. Surprised he got the nod over Coles.
I kinda soured on Coles when he turned into a bitch over the Chad Pennington(which I still think was premature) benching but he deserves to make the cut over Clowney

Clowney a lock ?
Everyone in Jet world assumes that Clowney has made the 53, although he hasn’t done a thing, can’t play specials and makes over a million. I just can’t believe the Jets are going to carry this guy.Until Holmes comes back the Jets have Edwards, Cotchery and Brad Smith. If you look at playing time in the pre season it would appear that Brad is your number 3 guy.
