Brooks Foster: Short Snippets On The Newest New York Jet
David posted the signing earlier today, and that meant something to research, which is always a good way to spend the evening (not being sarcastic, this is my favourite part of writing for GGN)
- Played for North Carolina, and was drafted in the 5th round of the 2009 draft by the St Louis Rams.
- Ran a sub 4.4 40 at the combine and set the all time record for bench presses with 27. Set a school record for receivers bench press by lifting 405lb's.
- Made 10+ appearances in each of his last 3 seasons with North Carolina, but only made two starts.
- Regarded as one of the Tar Heels best special teams players throughout his career at North Carolina.
- Recorded 30 catches for 334 yards and 2 touchdowns as a senior
- Recorded 29 catches for 417 yards and 2 touchdowns as a Junior.
- Recorded 38 catches for 486 yards and 1 touchdown as a Sophomore.
- Underwent knee surgery following his final game for North Carolina against Duke but was back playing in time for the Rams off-season work outs
- Didn't accumulate any statistics in 2009 playing with the St Louis Rams. Landed on injured reserve after turning his ankle in a game against the New York Jets.
- Named one of North Carolina's offensive players of the week on two occasions during his Senior season.
- Mainly drafted because of his size/speed/athleticism combination, despite his lack of elite production at North Carolina, a team loaded with offensive weapons.
- Was a walk on for the North Carolina basketball team in 2005 and played 5 games for the eventual NCAA champions.

Sounds like he’s a guy in desperate need of a fair shot without any issues of injury holding him back. He sounds like he’s got a comitment to the gym at least. Mabye we’ll see him make a few tackles on SP this weekend. Best of luck to him.

You could almost want to pull for the guy after a story like that.
Fact of that matter is. His story is a popular one. Guys like this get lost in the wash all the time. I hope he finds a home here. Anybody who works that hard should get a long look and a real chance to make it.

Well the thing that jumped out at me was the special teams comment from his North Carolina bio. If he was one of their top guys, that’s how he’s making it onto this roster. Wish the guy all the luck in the world, like you said, easy to route for.
