Around SBN: Raiders' GM Begins The Purge

David Harris Extension Unlikely?

Manish Mehta tweets that David Harris probably will not follow D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Nick Mangold in getting a long term extension from the team anytime soon.

#Jets would have 2 fully guarantee about 95percent of Harris' deal for it to get done this year due to CBA constraints. Not happening

There are always loopholes for a team with urgency. The 49ers found one in the 30% rule with Patrick Willis. Things don't seem to be anywhere close to dire with Harris, though. We haven't heard a peep from him regarding his contract status, and there were never any threats of a holdout. Until we see some drama, there is no reason to worry.

We’re making great progress with our contracts, and Harris seems like a “Let me play football and let my agent handle the business side behind closed doors” type of player. He’ll get his extension, doesn’t look like it will happen before next off-season but it will happen. He’s quickly becoming one of the best 3-4 linebackers in the league, his time will come.

Unless he blows a tire. Lets keep our fingers crossed.

Unfortunately, for Harris, he is the least important, and most easily replaced member of the so called “core four”, I also would probably rank resigning either Holmes or Edwards as more important for next year (but then him followed by Cro.)

at least we still got the franchise tag to use on him if necessary.. Interesting to see what happens after the season with Cromartie, Holmes and Edwards too

That's what I was going to say.

I feel like the Jets will use the tag on him this year, and sign him the year after. I think the CBA and lack of talks on that front is really what’s standing in the way.

Well there is a good chance there won’t be any football in 2011….so we’ll have a fair bit of time to sort it out.

I surely hope they get a damn CBA in place.

I would be liable to kill someone if there was no football. DO SOMETHING DAVE, PLEASEEEEEEEE

Well I’d like to lock them all in a room and given them a choice between getting a new CBA in place or starving……I think it would soon get done. Unfortunately I’m not sure that’s possible.

I'm behind you 100000%

Let’s get to work. America puts way too much into football for it not to be there in 2011. You get the addresses, and I’ll get to rounding them up.

I really can’t see the owners doing a lockout with the money they are making.

I think we are actually in a good position to resign all three, as long as we don’t break the bank on Revis. I mean Edwards and Cro. are looking for resurrection, so if they get it I think they are smart enough to stay with the team that brought it, even if its for less. I think your seeing signs of that from Edwards already. Holmes is a bit different, depends on the year he has, but he also knows he’s a big risk with the drug ban hanging over his head if he messes up again, I think even if he’s great, he doesn’t have a great bargaining position. So if he works well with Sanchez there’s a good chance he stays as well.

I kind of wish it could get done this year

Right now he is one of the best MLBs in the league. One more year of him beasting and the price might go up more then it would be right now. I understand if they can’t get a deal done due to CBA stuff but Harris signed might motivate Revis even more (wishful thinking)? Revis is looking like a bigger goat everyday that goes by with his “core” teamates signing their deals.

Since the face been revealed the game got real

I love it!!!

Be really great if some guys eook less so that we could keep them all.
But that’s just a fan talking. I dig Harris always have and always will. The Giants would probably kill to have him. He needs to be signed as soon as it can be done. I think Edwards loves it here and always wanted to play in a big market. He may emerge as the number 1 here. I think we have a great shot at him. If Cro returns to Pro Bowl form without Revis I think you lock him up fast.

The JETS/NETS are coming!
