I just took a look at the Vikes' schedule, and I don't think Favre is going to make it past week 8. Six of the first seven teams he'll face have good defenses that are predicated on hitting the QB.
Week 1: @ New Orleans -- yeah remember them Brett? They're the team that brutally violated you for 4 qtrs and tore your ankle out of its socket. I'm betting the game plan won't change much for you.
Week 2: Miami -- Mike Nolan is instituting a new, attacking 3-4. And the hits keep on rollin.
Week 3: Detroit -- pray to God that Kong Suh isn't legit.
Week 4: Bye -- Serious re-examination of the retirement thing as you prepare for... Oh shit...
Week 5: @ Jets -- You just know Rex and the boys are dying to make a statement and send a message on Monday night football. Yeah, them Jets sure talk a bunch, but its the quiet ones you gotta watch out for. Hey Brett, where the heck is David Harris? You shoulda talked to him more when you were here man. I don't think he likes you.
Week 6: Dallas -- remember that unnecessary TD you threw to run up the score in the playoffs last year? Yeah... they didn't.
Week 7: @ Green Bay -- another attacking 3-4; and they're just dying to bury you in the tundra.
Week 8: @ New England -- the Chick's defense was big disappointment last year. Gotta feeling the Chick aint gonna let that happen again. And its another goddang attacking 3-4.
And that, my friends, is how Brett Favre retires. Finally.
