Greene and LT to carry the load?

This isn't like last year when TJ kept chuggin early in the year to get 1,000 rushing yards the leader at one point in the year. Now its time for the sophmore and the veteran looking to add a super bowl championship on his hall of fame resume. With the Jets outstanding offensive line I expect to have a good year on the ground. Remember without a good ground game Mark Sanchez will most likely be pressured to throw the ball a lot. Which is not something we want at all.  Braylon, Holmes, and Keller are great targets, but lets win through the ground.

Many believe LT ran out of gas. If thats the case we're in big trouble relying on Greene, but the Chargers didn't have the greatest o-line. So LT will get around 12 carries a game and do pretty well.

Thoughts on the Jets offense this up and coming season?

A Fins Perspective....so, take it for what its worth.

I don’t think your offense changes a lot this year. You guys upgraded a ton at the WR position, but the strength of your team is still the defense, and you play to your strengths.

That means slow the game down…..which means running the ball. Sure you take your shots down the field with the new toys, but you still focus on what got you where you were. Make no mistake about it. If you had a passing offense last year, your defense wouldn’t be ranked #1. As a matter of fact, when you think of dominating defenses in the history of the league, what goes with it? A great ground and pound game. That isn’t a coincidence.

Just my thoughts.

So there I was.....asleep when it happened.....the buzzing of the blackberry woke me up....still groggy, I rubbed my eyes, and read the incoming email.
BRANDON MARSHALL IS A DOLPHIN!
Then I had a beer....took the day off work, and bought a box of condoms.
Its going to be a long night for my wife.

Balance with a possabilty of Washington

Rex believes in Ground & Pound, he needs to get his QB through a 16 game season ( lack of a great backup). We will not see Holmes until week five, but I think you will see the Jets throw a little more because of Sanchez’s overall improvement , and improved communications and coordination with Cotchery, Edwards and Keller. I certainly have my doubts about LT and Greene making it through an entire season. I think you will see if Rex has these concerns in the preseason. Chauncy Washington and Joe McKnight will run the ball a majority of the times in the preseason, If McKnight can run successfully on first and second down, IMO your deep RB reserve is Joe McKnight. If Chauncy Washington looks like he can carry the mail, and Rex has a concern about LT and Greene, look for the Jets to carry 4RB (LT, Greene, McKnight& Washington) and one FB, John Conner

offense

I do look for more passing this year and I think the offense will be balanced. Of course we will still ground and pound but also open it up in the air. Pound the ground will open up the air, open up the air will open the pound. They would really compliment each other. I think the Jets realize that the teams lately in the SB have to also pass well. In recent times only Baltimore with their defense went ground and pound and got Trent Dilfer the ring. People still joke that the Ravens defense had to be real awesome to get Trent the ring. Even the old ground and pound Steelers has to pass to win the 2009 SB, to who Santonio Holmes. What a game that was against the Cards. No need to talk about 2010 SB with the pass happy Colts/Saints. To get to and win the big dance we have to be able to take it to the air also.

My only worry right now is the kicker. Many playoffs and SB’s were won and lost with the kicker. Folk better come through. I heard Matt Stover is old but available, might be an option, but if Folk can come back it would be awesome.

run game

every team tries to establish a run game to open up the passing. The Jets should be succesful with their current components as they were last year and this will complement Sanchez as he develops by leaps and maybe even bounds this season. That lil’ guy showed some great resiliency playing strong after some horrific outings.
