Jets & Kyle Wilson Deal Imminent?

The Jets have been pretty busy today, signing Coles as well as extending Rex and Mike T and re-opening negotiations with the Revis camp. Well they may not be done, as according to Lisa Zimmerman, the signing of the Jets first round pick Kyle Wilson could be completed as soon as tonight:

Deal between the #Jets and Kyle Wilson may be in place as early as tonight.

After the Patriots signed McCourty to his 5 year $13.2 million deal which included $7.825 million in guaranteed money it set about the ticking clock on the Jets getting Wilson done. It was only a matter of time and it seems we are close and it's likely to be similar to McCourty's deal.

It's been a slow few weeks, but things have really picked up now and all the pieces are falling into place.

Can't wait for them to get this deal done

Things from minicamp about Wilson were very positive… and no one is surprised. It was a steal to get him all at 29 and that #29 is a lucky pick number for us! (Mangold)

He has a very bright future here and he’s a great fit for our defensive schemes because he loves press coverage.

Will be a great cover corner here, and excited to probably seeing him as nickel back this year and also in TC/preseason agasinst some different caliber WR’s.

Once McCourty was signed, Jets were bound to strike a deal soon after

Think John mentioned this in his ‘McCourty’ post the other day.

Will be interesting to see which one of the two turns out to be a better cover corner down the road, being that we really could have taken either of them if NE picked differently or took Wilson. Although I think we got the slightly better of the two, and really excited to see him out there this year!!

IMHO, Wilson's the better cover corner...

But McCourty is bigger and may end up being an impact safety.

I was really suprised they took him over Wilson, but I am glad they did. He fits what we need exactly. Hope they sign him asap.

Since the face been revealed the game got real

I’m almost grateful the Pats took McCourty, as it took nearly all the guessing work out of this deal. Get it done, and let’s get back to focusing 100% on Darrelle!

(and Mangold and Harris)
