Jets Contact Terrell Owens
According to Adam Schefter, the Jets are the latest team to contact controversial wide receiver Terrell Owens:
The latest team to contact WR Terrell Owens? The New York Jets. Filed this to ESPN.com: http://is.gd/dM7ur
In the article posted, Schefter goes on to say:
The Jets have contacted Owens' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, and have debated the idea of bringing the high-profile wide receiver to training camp.
A deal between the Jets and Owens still is considered a longshot; one person estimated the Jets' chances at signing the high-profile wide receiver at "20 percent."
I just can't see it, sure we need someone to step in for the first four games, but are we willing to sign Owens with that knowledge. Would we cut him after that, because he's not getting snaps over Edwards/Holmes or Cotchery. The last thing we need to give Sanchez is a disgruntled Owens, who will not hesitate to make a spectacle.
Bold favors the brave, but not in this case. I think it was exploratory, and we all know Mike leaves no stone unturned but I would be surprised if we signed him. It doesn't make sense to me to give a QB a wide receiver who's effort on the field is questioned. We don't need Owens at all. Our receiving core is one of the better ones in the league, we can mange 4 games with Edwards/Cotchery/Keller/Allison/Clowney.

100% agree
I just don’t think this is serious interest, just a quick call by Mike to see what was going on.

No thank you...
its not so much that I wouldn’t want his talent, its that the passing attack is not up to that level yet and adding another star receiver who wants the ball is only going to hurt Marks progress this year. I think it actually works out nice that Holmes is suspended for the first four, it lets the team get comfortable with the running game before being able to fully open things up.
I’m still interested in this, not as much as before the Holmes trade. Hey, look at it this way, Owens was proven right about McNabb and Garcia.

It’s still a better idea than bringing Jamarcus Russell….

Agreed.
No harm in checking up on players. Especially when you’ll probably be facing him Week 12.

I really don't think so...
TO would be a major disruption, and could be a very big detramnent to the team. Jemarcus (and I’m talking before the arrest, when it was being discussed) would have been third string at best, I don’t think he would have added anything, but would not have been the huge distraction TO would be.
I agree with everything u said there Dave. Except, I don’t TO’s effort on the field has ever been questioned. The guy is a master at making a spectacle out of himself, but he brings it when his cleets hit the grass. But after being exiled in Buffalo for a year, he might just be cracked out coming to NY and being on Hard Knocks.
I guess it depends how you view it, but I’ve seen him at times not run out his routes, not make any effort to get back after an interception and not give it his all on running plays. In Philadelphia, and Buffao.

I'd have to hope both scored a TD every week...
…and I’d hope both would try to out celebrate the other.

They’d also probably be a pretty formidable team… Man I dunno, people are thinking last year was a fluke but all they’ve done is improve this offseason. If they can keep it together like last year, they’ve got a hell of a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. A lot of personalities, a lot of troublemakers, but a lot of talent too.
The Dolphins? :)
So there I was.....asleep when it happened.....the buzzing of the blackberry woke me up....still groggy, I rubbed my eyes, and read the incoming email.
BRANDON MARSHALL IS A DOLPHIN!
Then I had a beer....took the day off work, and bought a box of condoms.
Its going to be a long night for my wife.
I actually was going for the Jets...
…but yeah it might match the Dolphins even more haha.

stay away...
Let the Bungles have him after they gave a ton of money to AB just to decide they don’t like him.
Somebody on another site said it might just be Rosenhaus trying to get a little more money out of the Bengals after the Rams gave up on him. I think that makes sense.
Well I don’t think it would be filed to ESPN if it were made up. No doubt it could be part of the reason it was released, but I have little doubt that Mike T probably did make a phone call of some sorts.

It’s in ESPN’s best interest if TO has a job this season, it gives them something to talk about when they aren’t talking about Farve.

I didn’t mean it was made up, I meant that Rosenhaus knows Mike T. leaves no stone unturned and would at least seemingly consider, which could make his stock rise.

NO TO
How stupid is this looking into TO to join the jets. Still a good player but getting old and attitude problem. Even if he behaves he wants the ball, and if no ball then cry baby. We got 3 quality receivers and that’s more than most teams already. Hope this is only a passing thing like the JR stupidity.
It started at 20% possibility, and I don’t think anyone thought it was for real. it’s now down to “minimal” interest. TO won’t be a Jet thankfully. Let him and Ocho do their clown act in Cincinnati

To be fair
T.O was not a baby in his season with Buffalo. And agree with Crack, he goes out and plays the game when he’s out there. I haven’t seen him quit, I’ll always remember his performance in the Super Bowl coming off a not completely healed broken leg. But as for the Jets, passs
WTF I WOKE up and the TV said t.o. to the JETS? I thought it was a nightmare could possibly be going through Rex’s head on this one???
Since the face been revealed the game got real
lol a lot of theories about this one. The lesser one is that we are genuinely interested. Others that it is just Mike sending a exploratory phone call his way just like the Russell incident. Or maybe it’s to get people talking about the Jets, from a PR stand point this actually makes sense.
I think the bottom line is that this is very unlikely to happen. I’d personally put it at less than 5%

Dump the 27 year old Edwards, who showed a lot of great qualities last year for the 36 year old Owens who is likely to spontaneously combust when he’s not getting targets and will be out of football soon? that makes absolutely no sense.

T.O. (Jets)
I dont think it would be that bad of an idea. Holmes is out for the first 4 games, who’s to say he doesnt get in trouble again and end up missing more of the season. If that happens you will be glad to have T.O. I understand his loud mouth antics have given him a bad rep, but I do beleive that he has matured and is willing to keep his mouth shut to play the game. You never know he could end up being an awesome WR for Sanchez.
My 2 cents
What is more likely though, Holmes getting in trouble again this year after having this reality check of a suspension. Or T.O getting upset and starting drama when he becomes the 4th WR on the roster, 5th if we split Keller out wide. It’s playing with matches in a gas tank.

He'd be a pretty good number 4 receiver.
I don’t think he will ever take that role though.
Darrelle Revis once won a game of Connect Four in three moves.
