Jets announce Signing Of DT Martin Tevaseu

According to Jenny Vrentas through her twitter account, the Jets today announced the signing of UDFA DT Martin Tevaseu out of UNLV.

Jets announce they have signed DT Martin Tevaseu, an undrafted FA out of UNLV.

On his official UNLV page, he is listed at 6'2 and 340lb's. College football insiders had Tevaseu write a journal throughout his draft process this year including his place in the East/West shrine game where he gave a good account of himself, the journal can be read here .

It's another big body for camp, lets see what he can do. The NFL draft bible had the skinny on Tevaseu prior the draft:

skinny: A big, potentially dominating defensive lineman who will look to again start at a tackle position ... A member of the 2009 Rebel Leadership Committee ... Earned a spot on the Dean's Honor List last fall en route to 2008 Academic All-MWC honors ... Last name is pronounced "TAY-vah-SAY-ewe

Tevaseu was named UNLV defensive MVP as well as team captain in 2009 as a senior

Apparently, he was with Cleveland last year, which means the team must have some insight about him from Rob Ryan.

I think it was this year wasn’t it, they signed him after the draft this year? because wasn’t he playing college ball last year?

Look at all these guys from Nevada

Kevin Baspad, Joe Maugua, and Ezra Butler from University of Nevada , and now Tevaseu from UNLV. If the Jets hava a regional scout in Nevada , he has been busy.
I wanted Cam Thomas in the fifth round in this years draft, a little depth at NT, lets Jenkins play a little DE and of course Jenkins and Pouha are on the wrong side of thirty.
Being undrafted and being cut by Cleveland is not a strong recomendations, but Pettin and Rex are always finding undrafted FA’s
