Looking 4 big things from LT
Hey all;
Just moved back to the "right coast" after 20 years in Daygo, and I must admit I am excited about this upcoming season! I was born in Manhattan, served in the Marines for ten years where I ended up in San Diego. I have been a Jet fanatic since the days of Richard Todd. But sadly, I have followed the "Bolts" for the past 20 years. From the Super Bowl whuppin' they received from the 9ers, to last years embarrasing loss to our Jets. My blood bleeds GREEN though (of course). Many days I was the only one sporting a Testaverde, Chrebet, Keyshawn or Curtiss Martin jersey at the local "watering hole." I will admit that I did indeed cheer for the "Bolts" IF they were not playing the Jets. One of the best moves they made was drafting that running back out of TCU, LaDanian Tomlinson, period! I watched firsthand for years as LT made some of the best defenses look awful. I firmly believe that the Jets have made a solid pickup in the form of LT! Now some of you may be saying that LT is way past his prime, but I submit to you the following::
a). Superior locker room Leadership. Who do you think ran the Bolts, Rivers?
b). Exceptional work ethinc and professionalism. Plus he has a chip on his shoulders to prove that he is not washed up!
c). The ability to still make people miss and gain positive yardage. I will admit to you that San Diego was moving away from a ground and pound, run oriented team, to a finesse, pass heavy one. Plus the offensive line rarely showed up for run blocking. Just my observations.
d). Lastly, he brings an element that was missing once Leon Washington went down with injury, catching the ball out of the backfield. I cannot remember any of the other backs stepping up in that aspect last year, can any of you?
With those points alone, I feel that LT is a HUGE threat in our offense and team!!! Plus you will be hard pressed to find a more classy guy. I don't expect LT to be a Junior Seau of the Patriots playing time, or a Emmit Smith when he was in Arizona. No, I submit to you that the LT I know will be a huge lift and help for our young backs, one who STILL has some gas in the tank and a ferocious offensive line to make holes for him and Shonn Greene. Should he be a starter, NO, but he will surprise many when #21 is called on!!! I expect great things from LT this year.
What say you?
J-E-T-S, Jets, Jets, Jets!!!

LT should have a good year, I think him and Greene will be pretty equal this year
let’s just hope the chargers were not right about him
As an outside observer (Packer fan) I have tried to closely follow any team that has a chance at post season noise. Some of your moves in the offseason have a chance to at least work out for you (Holmes, Cromartie) but I just don’t see any logic behind getting rid of Jones for Ladainian. Jones was a proven work horse for you and LaDainian plain and simply is a below average back right now. He did nothing last year but score some gimme touchdowns from 1 yard out. Is there something I’m missing here.
Those of us who watched Jones for about 19 games last year know that he’s not a workhorse. He had good vision and a good feel for where holes would develop, but he never got tough yards and he never made anybody miss. He rarely fumbled, but that was mostly because he avoided contact at all cost (hence his “durability”). Jones was a decent back last year, but most of his yards were entirely due to very good o-line play.
LD = TJ + hands. Definitely not an upgrade over Jones, but he’s definitely not a downgrade either.
Crack, I think your still giving TJ too much credit.
I think fans of other team, who didn’t watch him game in game out, just can’t comprehend it. They don’t see how a back that ran for 1400, with a good YPC had a “bad” season. But any fan who actually wtached every game last year, knows TJ was awful. I honestly think all his yards were a result of the o-line, and seriously I would venture he left 200-600 yards (although impossible to substantiate) on the field with his poor running. If I had a dime for every time I’d see him run into his lineman, go down on nothing first contact, or wait far to long with no one around him for a hole to open, I’d have a decent amount of money.
I can see LT having a much better year although, I’m sure not statistically as he will not be getting as many carries splitting them with Greene, or any of those garbage yards TJ would pick up in the 4th quarter.
We understand what you mean...
But here’s the thing… LT didn’t replace TJ… Greene is replacing TJ. LT is replacing Washington and Knight is to be groomed to take over from LT. (Hey Guys, correct me if I’m wrong.)
GANG GREEN ALL DAY!
You see, it's not about how you won the game, it's about how you played the game.... there's a difference.

But that means nothing...
To a NFL running back. Yes LT is younger than Thomas Jones BUT he was also the most used running back for the past 9 years. Running back careers are pretty short due to the pounding they take game in and out. That why most teams use 2 running backs these days. In fact LT has over 600 more carries than TJ does. Most backs average around 250 per season, so LT has technically played 2 full more season than TJ in terms of carries and what that does to your body .
Thomas Jones
Too many times while watching replays i saw holes being opened by the jets line that Jones either 1)didnt see 2)couldnt adjust to or 3)was dead set on going where he was supposed to go. Plus he was slow give me a back that can make 6yards on a busted play. And I still havent seen Greene get catch from behind
LT
We must also remember that during the preseaon games LT rarely played. I know they take it easy during preseason but LT hardly had any carries and you still get hit. So maybe that helped better his mileage use over the years of not playing in the preseason. We’ll see soon.
Don’t get me wrong now!!! I am not saying LT is replacing anyone or he will have a 1500 yard year. He will be lucky to get 800 yards, but I think it is within the realm of possibility that he could also add 600-800 yards receiving out of the backfield. Now that would add a much needed element to our offense. Also, if given the choice of TJ or LT behind the Jets o-line, I would always take LT. LT could be like Marcus Allen with the Chiefs whenever they played the Raiders. He always saved his best game for them, if memory serves me correctly (getting old, notice the BWay Joe jersey). LT reminds me of Allen in that he rarely gets hit and falls backward, he almost always seeme to fall forward after contact. Am I going batty?
Lt
LT is the man!!!! LOL what a bunch of bums hahaha
Ronn
your a idiot bro to say you saw holes open up is just hysterical why dont you stick to madden on the wii moron … thats what i mean jets fans are just pure dipshits.. im sorry
Dude...... don't troll over here and make other Phin fans look bad.
First off, learn to use the REPLY button so people know how you are talking about.
Secondly, You didn’t say a think of any substance at all…. If you have an intelligent opinion about the matter, sure, chime in (I do over here often), but for the love of god, don’t make yourself out to look like an idiot. It makes the rest of us FIN FANS look bad. And gives other teams more fodder to say, “Dumb ass fans”….. so, while you call the Jets fans “dipshits”, your little comment here makes you look exactly like a Dipshit…
::sigh::
So there I was.....asleep when it happened.....the buzzing of the blackberry woke me up....still groggy, I rubbed my eyes, and read the incoming email.
BRANDON MARSHALL IS A DOLPHIN!
Then I had a beer....took the day off work, and bought a box of condoms.
Its going to be a long night for my wife.
Hopefully its his first time, maybe he was just in a mood...
who knows. But not the way I’d like to represent our team’s fans….. ugh.
