Report: Revis Will Be in Camp
Contrary to rumors from yesterday, Michael Lombardi says to expect Darrelle Revis in training camp.
Revis has plenty of incentive to report.
He has the option to void his current contract at the end of the 2010 season, but the Jets have the right to buy back the remaining two years at $20 million, fully guaranteed.
If Revis were to miss any mandatory time due to a holdout, however, he might lose the guranteed portion of the contract. He would then be under contract for two more years, at $5 million in 2011 and $15 million in 2012. That potential guarantee is something he would not want to risk.
This may change in the future, but Darrelle holds very few cards at this point.
I wouldn't be worried even if he did sit out camp, though. He missed a ton of camp before his rookie year and was extremely effective from the outset that year. It's relatively easier to step right in at a reaction position like corner than other spots on the field.

I’m so confused. Yesterday he’s holding out, now he’s not. Let’s put it this way, I can’t imagine a scenario where Revis is not playing as a Jet this season.

I think the vibes coming from Revis are that he is willing to hold out, but the NFL network guys are saying that he wouldn’t do it because of the guaranteed money issue. However I don’t think anyone really knows what he’ll do in the end. Every Revis conversation now has to have $$$ included in it which is a shame.

Slash manager doesn’t seem like a person motivating Revis into getting a deal done..from his twitter acct. “RT @GeigerGeiger: Who did fergs deal? Master p? Lol so sad…”

even if revis whines like a little girl about not getting paid he is still a professional and takes great pride in his craft. he can sit out training camp and shut down randy moss, brandon marshall, andre johnson, and reggie wayne in consecutive quarters. as much as team chemistry is developed in training camp, his knickname was revis ISLAND for a reason. hes asked to play one on one most of the time and he isnt going to want to embarass himself. he is an extremely rare athlete who believes in the competition of the game.

i just dont understand why your FO wants to piss off the best player on your team.players remember how they are treated, and make no mistake they play for the money these days.i just hope they keep it up so leaves(when he can).if they were smart he would have been the first one to get a new contract.yes i know he has 3 years on his contract, but contracts dont mean shit when in comes to owners as they can cut you anytime they feel like it.so y in the hell should they matter to the players? excactly they dont. be smart and pay the man,he is no doubt the best corner in the league…..
After the way brick handled his deal,
I want Revis to try that, just stay quiet. if I was the Jets I would buy back the two years of his rookie contract while working on an extension. That way they have two years to work it out incase Revis is dragging his feet. I think Revis should get his money, in general I can’t believe allthese players on rookie contracts wanting more money, thats how it works with the exception of Chris Johnson cause RBs average a lot less years then most other positions.
Since the face been revealed the game got real
