Face Of The Franchise | 2010 New York Jets
Who's the face of the franchise? I saw this question asked on ESPN for MLB teams and it got me wondering, "Who is the face of the 2010 New York Jets?"
Well, it didn't take me long. In about 0.432 second, or about the time it took me to blink my eyes, I thought of ... well, Mike Tannenbaum. But that's just me.:)
There are a lot of good candidates for the "face". Mark Sanchez for starters, a.k.a. "The Sanchize". He's got it all. He's good looking, charismatic, talented and up and coming. He's also out there doing all kinds of stuff. If he has a good season it will be hard not to think of him.
How about Darrelle Revis? He's one of the top 5 defensive players in the entire NFL. He's a young emerging player with a bright future and he's also the heart of the Jets defense. He even has an island named after him!
I wouldn't discount Bart Scott or Kris Jenkins. Two top veteran players who are vocal and well known.
Or maybe good ol' Nick Mangold should be considered. When I think of the strength of the Jets I think of the offensive line. And when I think of the strength of the offensive line I think of Nick Mangold. Then again maybe that's a little too much thinking to be the face of the franchise.
The "Face" should be someone who comes to mind right away. So if someone says 2010 New York Jets, then the first person that comes to mind should be in the running for the face of the franchise.
It should also be someone that non-fans would think of, those who aren't too familiar with the team. Oh well, that probably leaves Mike Tannenbaum out :(.
It should also be someone who has or will have some longevity with the team and not just a one year wonder. For example, LaDainian Tomlinson and Jason Taylor would not be good choices.
Braylon Edwards on the other hand could be a good choice if he gets a long-term contract with the team. The same for Antonio Cromartie and Santonio Holmes. Although they might be choices for next year rather than this year.
Last, but not least, there's of course Sexy Rexy Ryan. It's hard not to think of Rex when the conversation turns to the 2010 New York Jets.
So there you are. Who do you think is the "Face of the 2010 New York Jets".

JaMarcus Russell? :) Just kidding...
How the hell do you NOT have a Fan Post, a Fan Shot, or even a reference anywhere to the fact that you guys were taking a look at JaMarcus Russell?
So there I was.....asleep when it happened.....the buzzing of the blackberry woke me up....still groggy, I rubbed my eyes, and read the incoming email.
BRANDON MARSHALL IS A DOLPHIN!
Then I had a beer....took the day off work, and bought a box of condoms.
Its going to be a long night for my wife.
John B posted about it yesterday.
and the home of the... JETS!!!

I've tried to email Revis, but it just shuts down my computer.
I retract my statement then...
hard to keep up with stuff on here, too much gets front paged and pushed down.
My bad.

Also, there was a fanshot about it
But no one reads those on this site apparently? It was up more than a day before John B’s article.
I thought Revis or Sanchize
On one hand, he has the name Sanchize for a reason amiright? But at the same time, at the moment, Revis IS the best single player on this team, and when most people hear Jets, they think defense, and with everything that has gone on, Revis usually pops up first.. not always for the best reasons.. but he is first.
Who put a bigger stamp on this team than Rex?
At least at this point, because he’s so outspoken, he started the whole ‘play like a Jet’ thing, turned the defense into a monster in one season, and bottom line? Everyone knows who he is. Either love him or hate him, he’s always in the news for something.
Until Sanchez establishes himself as a top QB in this league, our brash coach with his suffocating defense will be making most of the headlines.

"212 degrees" - NY Jets 2010 offseason approach
At 211 degrees, water is hot.
At 212 degrees, water boils and makes steam.
With steam one can power a locomotive.
"One marginal degree, just like a small additional effort, can make all the difference."
Put it this way
Put them all in a line-up. Who is the likeliest to be recognized? Rex, his face is in the news way more than any others. The casual football fan wouldn’t be able to point out Revis.
Go Jets
Go Devils
