Pick Your Running Back Contract
With Joe McKnight signed, it's a good time to compare him with the man many believe the Jets want him to replace, Leon Washington. McKnight's deal is for an average of $447,500 per year. Washington was asking for a contract in the range of $6 million per year.
Which would you rather have? McKnight is obviously much cheaper. Leon has a track record of success in the NFL unlike McKnight. He also is coming off a serious leg injury, though, and nobody can say for sure how he will respond.
Tell me what you think.

Great JOB JETS!
Just a high school student who lives his ambitions of working for the NFL,

depends on how good this McKnight kid is
if he’s athletic and half as good as Leon is outta the gate, it might be worth it

obviously everyone will pick joe
But, Leon wasn’t getting a $6 million contract. Again, trying to make the management look good
Somebody must've gassed ya team

Huh?
Trying to make management look good? I asked a simple question, not offered an opinion on management.
Leon was asking for $6 million.

DG is suggesting it’s a loaded question vindicating the team’s decision to dump Leon. And it is, if you’re just comparing 6M to less than half a mil per year, assuming (like most fans on the site) they will be the same player. The problem is, they are not. Finding an impact offensive weapon in round 4 was catching lightning in a bottle, and it’s not gonna happen again. Even as much as we want to believe it.
It’s a tougher call to make because of the injury, but I’m still voting for Leon; especially since he could have been retained for far less than 6M IMO. Seattle won’t be paying him near that much, if he’s not signed already.

Here’s the info I could find on Washington. 4/15/2010: Signed a one-year contract. 2010: $1.759 million, 2011: Free Agent
The Islanders went from Marty McInnis and a 2nd Overall pick to Jesse Joensuu.
Wow. This vote should be updated. Because at less than 2 mil a year, Leon’s a better prospect than McNobody even if he had two broken legs.

If we could have signed Leon for 1 or 2 years at 6 million, or even front loaded the guaranteed money so he definitely got paid next year and then we could have let him go, I would go for Leon.
I just don’t get all the cost cutting moves going into a capless year in which we are considered a Super Bowl Contender. Windows to be a contender in the NFL can be extremely small, and I would have liked if we spent more to try and make it.

+1, we’ve signed way too many question marks this offseason in cost cutting moves, often cutting reliable players to do it. It sometimes feels like the Jets just can’t stand prosperity. Because whenever it arrives, somehow, some way, we have to find a cure for it.

Both are question marks, one being a rookie and the other coming off injury. Might as well go with the cheaper option. Having said that, if Leon ends up being as good or greater in Seattle, I will be thoroughly happy for him.

I've tried to email Revis, but it just shuts down my computer.
After some thought
I kinda feel the same, plus the money we save helps the team in other areas
