Shaun Ellis is set to make $3.35M this year. Haynesworth is set to make $3.6M.
Is he a prima donna? Absolutely. Is he a pain in the ace? Without a doubt. Is he a selfish, possibly cancerous SOB? Can't argue with that. Is he one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the league? You're freakin darn right he is. And thats why you make this trade if you can.
I fully understand all the negatives he can bring. But the positives far outweigh the negatives to me. The idea of pairing him up with Jenkins is just far too tantalizing for me to pass on. In fact, there's just a little bit too much negativity coming out of Washington. Its almost like a good old fashioned political smear campaign thats going on right now. There may even be a case for defending Big Al in all of this.
I've said it before, but I'm going to say it again because i like it so much. Just imagine its 3rd and long and having Big Al and Big Jenks collapsing the pocket in the middle, Pace and JT attacking the edges, and Harris blitzing the A-gap; with our freakish secondary locking down all passing options. I mean with that, who needs offense?
I for one think that his problems will disappear over here. He will have too much success and get too much positive press to have a gripe. He was born to play in Rex's blitzing schemes where he can move around be exploited and reap the benefits of playing along side another dominant behemoth. He can hide amongst the plethora of stars and be relieved of the burden of carrying the defense. Here he doesn't have to be the guy, he can just be one of the guys. Here he can just line up and dominate like he wants to. And here he'll have a very real shot at a title.
So what do you think?
