Jets Sign K Clint Stitser

The Jets have announced the signing of kicker Clint Stitser according to a press release:

The New York Jets have signed free agent kicker Clint Stitser. The announcement was made by Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Stitser (K/6-1/200/Fresno State/Reno, NV) played four seasons at Fresno State University (2004-2007) where he scored 223 points on 37-of-52 field goals (71.2 %) and connected on 112-of-118 extra point attempts. Stitser was out of football in 2008 and 2009.

Out of football in 2008 and 2009, so it's been three years since he has kicked in a game. A bit of camp fodder at most it seems. There is little say about Stistser really. He was a solid if unspectacular kicker at Fresno. He has a decent not great leg. He excelled in the classroom and was a finalist for the Wuerffel Award. which is given to the top football player who excels on the field in the classroom and in the community.

It's a signing that fails to scream "problem solved."

But we couldn’t pay the freakin’ guy, so we’re gonna pay for it during the season in the win/loss column. Instead of Feely, we get the ugly step-Stitster :(

Jets can surely do better

Before you ask why I'm a fan of both the Cowboys and Jets, I'll just say the answer is complicated and that it just turned out that way.

It’s just to get another kicker on the roster, will just be for camp purposes, pretty sure we will pick up someone either in the late rounds of the draft, a veteran like Stover or a UDFA.

I've made a huge, tiny mistake.

If the Jets are going after players who haven’t seen the field in a while why not go after Billy Bennett? Bennett holds enough kicking records to justify a shot like the Jets are giving Stister.

I live in Fresno and watched this guy kick for 2 seasons and watched him boot 55+ yarders in practice.

No joke. I’d take Folk over him though. Why the F did idiot Mikey T lose Feely?

It is time to unleash LT and the Greene Machine

They should just bannish FGs.

It just doesn’t seem to be within the spirit of the game. Kickers aren’t real football players. Nobody wants the game end in a FG. TDs is football.

I was going to buzz by the UFL site and reccomend whoever the best kicker was. But in a genius move the UFL website doesn’t have special team stats. BRILLIANT!

new PK

What about this kid Garrett Lindholm. Kickoffs average more then 60 yards. Made field Goal of 64 yards to tie with no time left in college playoff. Makes better then 85% of FG attempts. Small school but a kicker is a kicker. Check him out, he may be our answer
