Houston Signs Neil Rackers
Neil Rackers will not be kicking for the Jets in 2010. The free agent signed with the Texans tonight.
Rackers, replaced by former Jet Jay Feely in Arizona, signed a two-year deal tonight with the Texans, ESPN is reporting. Rackers will compete with Kris Brown for the starting job.
That's fine by me. Rackers is too inconsistent year to year to get too upset over this. He's also not the best clutch kicker. I'd rather see Gang Green spend the money on the Jay Feely signing for depth somewhere. Bring in a rookie to compete with Nick Folk.

rackers
I agree, Rackers has been known to choke when it counts. Money better spent on the oline, dline or olb. Pick up a kicker in the late rounds or free agent when a lot of them don’t get drafted. A lot of the GGN is worried about the offense but if we have a dominant defense with a good pass rush without having to blitz constantly we will dominate and the offense will get the ball a lot and wear out the other teams defense. Then our offense will look awesome and the other defense looks like crap and tired. Some people don’t get this. Control the line of scrimmage and you control the game.
Jets should sign...
NATE KAEDING!
Before you ask why I'm a fan of both the Cowboys and Jets, I'll just say the answer is complicated and that it just turned out that way.

What more can I say?
So is this a huge upset or something like that guy said from the Daily News or whatever? I personally think this kinda sucks, but whatever. Like people said, there’ll be kickers available after the draft—hopefully they won’t all suck.
Yea thats what they said about punters last year...
I don’t want to see a carousel of players until final cuts and we see whose the best available, like we saw last pre-season at punter, I don’t think it helps with the cohesion of the special teams.
I've searched all over the web.....
and the only mention of this so called deal is Rich Cimini. I’ve been watching ESPN all day and I’ve heard nothing, same thing at NFL.com. Also not a word on either NYJets.com or Houstontexans.com, so what gives? I’m also a little skeptical of the figure, $4.1 mil with a $300K signing bonus. It must be for 2 years but is Rackers really worth that much more then Feely? Feely reportedly signed for 1 year at $1.5 mil. I’m not buying this until I find another reliable source thank you very much.
Over at Battle Red Blog there is a lot of chatter about this.
http://www.battleredblog.com/2010/4/5/1406915/breaking-news-texans-sign-neil
“Neil Rackers, formerly of the Arizona Cardinals, is now a member of your Houston Texans, according to Adam Shefter.” [http://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter/status/11670012432]
“The deal is for two years with a total of $4.1 million available to Rackers, but only $350K of it guaranteed, which means he can easily be cut if he bombs training camp and the pre-season.”
Yeah, alot of chatter but....
I’ve still not heard one blip about it on NFL.com. I don’t know?!?
