NFL Draft Day Three Discussion Thread
This is a thread for those of us diehards who got up early on Saturday morning to see how the end of the Draft unfolds. There are still a lot of really good players on the board as we get set to begin the fourth round. Perhaps Mike will move up, but there may be no need. The Jets stayed put in the first two rounds and wound up with excellent players.
Leave your thoughts below.

With the release of Faneca I wouldn't be surprised if we trade up in the 4th to get another OL
say Campbell or stay put and take some one like Beadles.
Haha was just about to post the same thing. That would make some sense. But Cambell is so raw, can he plug and play at RT?
I don’t think so.

Is there any shot he re-works his contract and comes back?
If he does it would send a powerful message to the rest of the team. Here’s a HOFer, 9-time Pro Bowler, Superbowl champion taking a pay cut to be part of this.
Sapp, Wootton, Thomas, Jones,Watson
If we come away with one of those today, it will be a big success

I guess teams really don’t like Griffen

he said he tried to move up in the 2nd, then he tried to move down, and he also tried to get into the 3rd but said teams just weren’t interested in what they had to offer

Thought VG was not a bad player, had a good work ethic, attitude was fine, had some issues but thought we could coach him up……learn from your mistakes.
Griffen has the same issues, but he also has a horrible attitude and work ethic, not a chance I would touch him. And 32 teams have already passed on him 3 times, that speaks volumes. Apparently his interviews were terrible, completely arrogant.

the only knock i have been reading about Wilson is that he gets beat deep consistently
Haden was rated #1 because he didn’t allow one TD during his time at Florida

You're right...
but they did say that Wilson is a HUGE GAMBLER. He consistently baits that QB in hopes of recovering for an interception. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t, hence him getting beat deep.

Not that Dwyers small, I think he just has a bit more speed than the other two, and is a bit more well rounded. Blount and Dixon are both better between the tackles though.

Eagles could be in play for a trade with the thousand picks they have in this round. Maybe Leon to replace Westbrook.
I wouldn’t mind that, and I don’t think we have to replace him with Wilson handeling return duties. We can put Woodhead back at RB and leave him as the speed option out of the backfield.

I don’t want Woodhead playing any prominent role next year. I’ve been very unimpressed by what I have seen.

I dont know, I still don’t think we’ve had a long enough look at him at RB, I think WR was a stupid move. I remember back to the pre-season game against the Eagles last year, he looked amazing.
He’s good for highlights, not a good fit for the draft.

If it smells like a duck, and quacks like a duck … it just might be a BUST!
For those who think that VG will be a good 3-4 DE YOU ARE SO WRONG!
*As of right now he is too small and can’t hold the point.
*He won’t command a double team
*He is playing an non-glorified position with minimal statistical impact AND wont be motivated
No, not having a selection in this draft until the 7th with this depth is a horrible thing.

VG isn’t a bust. I believe this kid will be good playing in his proper position. This dude will be better on the line, end of story. And I wouldn’t call anyone a bust if your first season was playing under a bogus coach like Mangini. Thee was nothing genius about that dude, hated that name peeps gave him.
Give him this year before calling him a bust. I won’t believe it until this year is over and he still has no sacks.

He wont be motivated. He has his money. He is playing a 3-4 DE, a boring position with very little chance of getting to the QB with everyone rex brings. He is purely a 4-3 DE
Maybe he'll push the pocket better....

The Jets can still trade Leon for a couple of late picks, maybe a fith and a seven. I hope they get that much for him now.

Im confused please help me god
Man after reading everything about the depth on the defensive side of the ball with safties LB’s and DL. We get a CB a OL and a RB????
We could use Wilson in so many ways and needed depth and future in the OL, plus Mcknight is a huge potential guy, learning from LT he could become a little like him.
Jets green since 1997
Wilson was one of the best picks of the first round, and CB was our biggest need.
Ducasse was also a huge value pick where we got him, and a huge need with them releasing Faneca.
Our OLB/DE need has been greatly over hyped, especially OLB with the signing of Taylor.
McKnight was the only questionable pick I think we made
Smart of them
they’re making the most of their picks this year.
He never would have fell to us in the late sixth.
5th is painful to watch
all the good players flying off the board while we gotta wait.
Still worth Santonio if you ask me, though.
Yeah but is there anybody there with the value of 80 recs, 1200 yrds and who is a guaranteed big game player,(SB MVP with the catch to win it in the last secs)?

Rex and Tanny have really changed the attitude around here...
In a Defensive Draft full of ends tackles and pass rushers, we took 3 OFF players and a corner. If this happened in the past there wouldn’t be a ledge big enough to hold all of us! Lets go J-E-T-S!!
Time to start searching for the next Chrebet, (UDFA stud). Are there ever any defensive players that have been solid to good that went undrafted and signed as a UDFA?
Here comes the JUDGE!
You sir are the man!
by george JETson on Apr 24, 2010 12:37 PM EDT up reply actions
In such a deep draft your supposed to trade down and gain more picks. we did the exact opposite. Now if this was a weaker draft clas, fine trade up, but not when there is so much talent still left on the board like Cam Thomas or Arthur jones.
J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!!!!!!!!!!!
Tanny’s philosophy will always be, “Quality over Quantity”. You have to judge our draft picks on their value in correlation to where they were picked.
by george JETson on Apr 24, 2010 12:47 PM EDT up reply actions
5th rnd value
We got S Holmes for our 5th. Seattle got LW coming off a gruesome leg break!
True. If he comes back at 80% of his former self it is still better than the other trades. I wouldn’t have traded a 5th grader for Ginn no less a 5th rounder! (Maybe its just hate for his 3 plays against us!)
Oh I think the Phins gave up on him way to soon, he was the one receiver they needed to keep (even if it was mostly on potential) when they got Marshall. And its not like he was that bad, considering he had Pennington most of his career who did not have the arm strength to take advantage of his speed.
