CJ Spiller

If the Jets are able to sign a veteran safety in Atogwe or Jackson, and possibly a veteran pass rusher in Adalius Thomas (if ever released), they will have completed 3 of the top 5 priorities this offseason before the Draft has even taken place. With that in mind, and a future Leon Washington signing in San Francisco becoming apparent, the Jets are going to begin planning their annual Draft Day jump to the top half in order to get the player of their choice. Last year it was sanchez (not too bad) and greene (best steal of the draft). Gholston we didnt move up for. And before that the Jets jumped to the top to draft Revis (best CB in football now). This year, the jets will use multiple 2nd round picks as ammunition to trade up and select the dynamic CJ Spiller RB from Clemson. With Greene's power and Spiller's break out speed, that tandom will be hard to stop; talk about a home run threat EVERY play. They will spend a first and a second round pick to get Spiller and still have a second round pick remaining to draft shipley. The Jets would then have an extremely young talented Offense (minus a couple linemen) and maybe the best defense in football.

I have to say that in a draft this deep, with the lack of depth we have, I will be very disappointed if Mike trades up to get anyone. Still not completely sold on Spiller as a player that is a first round worthy pick for us. I’d rather take a scat back in the later rounds, and if we are going RB, take another bruiser, a Gerhart or Blunt type charachter.

Spiller is a BUST...

So is Jahvid Best. And if we trade a 1st and a 2nd to move up for ANYBODY, it better be Eric Berry.

I'm not sure about Spiller.

I think Best is good though. Not an every down back, but the type of Leon back that we were talking about is in the draft a lot. That said, I think he should be a 2nd or 3rd round pick, because he isn’t a feature back, I can see him in the return game, catching balls and making some big plays, but he is a 3DRB, imo.

Disagree and agree

Don’t think spiller is a bust.

what do you mean by “minus a couple lineman?”

Leon Washington let go?

What is wrong with you people, comparing some mid-round rookie with this stud Jet?
Just sign Leon. Period. We all felt that way last year….just sign him. CJ Spiller couldn’t get yardage against the TCU Horned Frogs on his home field. And I am supposed to be using a Leon No. 2 pick so I can package up to get Spiller? Why is nobody talking up Daryl Washington, the guy who stuffed Spiller and everyone else all last year…the guy is a missile who goes on search-and-destroy missions.

Yeah,

the TCU Horned Frogs, number one ranked defense in the nation. Those TCU Horned Frogs. What’s your point? Leon is a good player, but he is a scat back, he is replaceable. For a scat back coming off a broken leg, you take the second round pick. In a draft this deep, you take the second rounder in a second and don’t turn back. Theres always a skilled running back in the draft who can catch the ball and make people miss but isn’t big enough to be a feature back so he slips to the 4th round. Every year. It’s how we got Leon in the first place. I love the guy, but under the present circumstances, I take a second round pick and bolt.

And oh yeah,

I don’t even want CJ Spiller, the pick has nothing to do with Spiller. You take it because you get a good value and a chance at a first round talent. You know Leon can be replaced with a mid round pick, or even with an undrafted guy, maybe you sign a Bernard Scott type of guy off somebody’s practice squad. Not to take anything away from Leon, he was great at what he does, but there are a lot of guys who are very fast and great in space. I jump at a second for Leon.

Daryl Washington is good,

but he is a bit undersized for a linebacker. A lot of people here like Jerry Hughes of that same defense.

you guys did pretty well for youselves in your most recent draft tradeups..

however in a deep draft it may be time to build some depth IMO.Didn’t you guys trade a 3 and 5 for Braylon?A 1st to move up for Sanchez?Regardless of anything good luck andGO G-MEN!
