Marques Murrell Signs With New England

Manish Metha tweets Marques Murrell is going to the Pats.

Robert Kraft announced on local radio that #Patriots signed former #Jets LB Marques Murrell today.

I thought Murrell was a decent special teamer, but this isn't as big as losing Wallace Wright. I trust Rex to assess the defensive talent. If he thought he could develop Murrell into something special, I'm sure the team would have shown more interest retaining him at a cheap price and certainly wouldn't have let him go to the Pats without a fight.

Belichick makes his annual move to tweak the Jets.

Just got home, but around 5:30 just before I left one of the NE beat reporters said this was basically finalized. See it just came to fruition.

Westhoff’s unit took a hit this week, we’ll need to bring in some guys to fill the voids from Wallace and Murrell.

I was almost mad until I thought about Curtis Martin. I figured with all those rings they’d be a little less insecure. Can’t wait to stomp them next year.

Murrell was a nice special teamer, but I’m not too worries about this, I’m thinking he is easily replaceable.

I’m not too worried either, but hopefully Mike T can find some decent special teamers to replace Wright and Murrell. We all saw what Ted Ginn did to us. If im not mistaken, i think Gholston was on the field during one or both of those.

+1

LB’s unless extremely talented are easily replacable in the NFL right now. Corners, aren’t, and are at a premium.

It’s segueing back into a passing league again…

That’s true, I think it was the most experience guy, Larry Izzo that actually missed that tackle on the Ginn TD, and someone didn’t hold outside containment…I want to say Woodhead…but not sure??

I’m sure we can pick up some valuable guys on special teams

Hopefully Murrell will be it for this year. Hoodie needs to stay away from Leon.

Idk. I’ll take hoodie’s highest 2nd for Leon. The snap his leg again for being stuppid enough to go to NE.

Then we will steal Kevin Faulk out of

Foxborough.

Off topic. Just read on Sporting News that the Ravens are still in the market for a WR. J-Co for Landry + (what round pick) makes it worth your while?

by Crackback on Mar 10, 2010 1:00 AM EST up reply actions

Naw.

Cotch is as consistent as they come and as inconsistent as braylon can be you need j-co out there. The WR market is crap this offseason, and few solid slot guys are left. Think we need to keep him.

So u wouldnt do it even for a 1st rounder + Landry?

by Crackback on Mar 10, 2010 10:08 AM EST up reply actions

If it was for THAT, even I would take that trade

by Exystence on Mar 10, 2010 11:15 AM EST up reply actions

But it is kinda funny that you seem to be pretty intent on getting rid of Cotch one way or another >_>

by Exystence on Mar 10, 2010 11:16 AM EST up reply actions

Its not so much that I want to dump Cotch, I like Cotch. But he’s good trade bait. He’s a quality receiver that other teams could use, but he can be replaced somehwat easily.

by Crackback on Mar 10, 2010 11:22 AM EST up reply actions

I have to disagree with you dude. He makes like 3 or 4 circus catches every year it seems… he’ll drop a couple, but for every drop he’ll make a catch that NOBODY should make. He’s soooo ridiculously underrated, he does all the little things right and he’s such a smart player that fights for every yard and never ceases to surprise me. Think about it, like at least half of the catches he made last year I remember thinking that at the very least something that made me go “damn, Cotch is awesome.”
