Superbowl or Bust
Last year with a rookie QB and significant injuries at key positions the Jets were this close to making it to the Superbowl. So what now? Do we continue to develop and build towards the future? Or do we go for it? I say go for it. The fruit doesn't get as ripe as it is now. Ideally, you'd like to have your quarterback a little more seasoned before making a run. But, unfortunately/fortunately (depending upon your perspective) all of the other pieces are in place, with some key players still in their prime (e.g. Scott, Jenkins, Harris, Leonard, etc.).
2 key acquisitions will give us a very good shot at winning it all: Brandon Marshall and Shaun Rogers.
BRANDON MARSHALL
So if your QB isn't quite ready to strap the team on his back and make plays, you have to get players that can help him make plays. Therefore, use the first pick to acquire Brandon Marshall. He's as dynamic a receiver as there is in the game. He showed his dominance regardless of whether its Cutler or Orton tossing it to him. As his team's only viable offensive option, with Kyle Orton as his QB, and drawing double and triple teams galore, Marshall still had 101 catches for 1120 yards and 10 TDs last year. Impressive production for a guy who didn't even want to be with the team. Could it blow up in our faces? Yes. Could he and Braylon Edwards together be a toxic pair and locker room cancers? Absolutely. But they also could be as dynamic a duo as there is in football. Dare I say, as dynamic a duo as there ever was in football. Its a roll of the dice, but the potential dividends are enormous. Braylon and Brandon. Has a nice ring.
SHAUN ROGERS
This 350 lbs behemoth is as dominant a force as Kris Jenkins. We've all seen what Jenkins does to opposing offensive lines. Imagine having two such monsters. Thats what the addition of Rogers would be to our already stellar defense. They each would occupy 2 blockers apiece as they penetrate 2 yards deep into opponent's line of scrimmage and linebackers would run amock, wreaking havoc all over the field. Running against our defensive front would be like running into a brick wall. On passing downs the each would collapse the pocket from the inside and allow blitzers to take a free shot at the quarterback. Not only would the addition of Rogers make our defense better, but it would make our defense one of the greatest of all time.
Last year we made it to the AFC Championship game. The last time we made it that far before last year was over ten years ago. The last time we made that far before that...? 1983. Before that, it was in the magical season of 1969. Can we really afford to sit and wait and hope every draft pick turns out just right? Do you really want to wait two, three, five years to have as good a shot at winning the big one as we do now?
The time is now. The future is present. LETS GO GET IT!!!

The question is the price you have to pay
Marshall is one of the best at his position. The Broncos tendered him at a first plus a third. My guess is his trade value goes first plus another player, maybe even first plus starter.
As to Rogers, my guess is that his trade value is high pick (2nd?) or solid starter. Your counter-offer seems to be Cotchery, who would definitely be useful for the Browns: a dependable possession receiver.
If you ask me which of our starting WR’s I’d rather keep, I would prefer Cotchery, but I understand Braylon’s big-play value, plus there is no way on Earth, Mars, or Pluto that we are trading him back to his old team.
prob going to be bust this year not superbowl
Sorry to burst your bubble but you guys are not going to have another season like last year

you gotta admit the next few years are going to be fun to watch these 2 develop
I think Sanchez is the better athlete but Henne i think is much smarter

Wonderlic, for starters
Henne scored a 22
Sanchez scored a 28
Can’t say that I agreed with Sanchez’s decision-making abilities mid-season, but he turned into a hell of a “game manager” by the end. And if you witnessed the WONDER of his junior season at USC (3207 yds // 34 TD // 10 INT), you’ll know that it’s only a matter of time before he jumps into the pool of elite ‘slingers. Can’t say that I see the same elite level for Henne, as his best year came in 2006 with 2508 yds // 22 TD // 8 INT.
