Cromartie Contract News
Jason LaCanfora has some news about Antonio Cromartie's contract.
Jets reworking part of Antonio Cromartie's 2010 deal, turning about $500K into bonus. No new money involved. More details on NFL.com.
I'll be interested to hear more about this. Obviously this couldn't be cap related in an uncapped year.

You all are in for a treat
Now that John is on Twitter!
Between him, David, DvDvill, and myself….. I think we’ll be OK for breaking news. Literally just came across, and John’s already on top of it. Solid.

Why would they get rid of a dodgy tackler in Rhodes…..and then move a dodgy tackler out of his comfort zone into the free safety position? I don’t see it. We will see another FS brought in somehow.

If we end up with Atogwe,
and basically move Rhodes for a 4th, and Atogwe, I would thrilled. That’s a big upgrade. We have to wait and see though, and judge this move once the bigger picture is more clear. I think Rhodes wanted out, and I think we were glad to accommodate him, but Mike T isn’t stupid and I think he must have had something in place in order to move Rhodes.
Like somebody said in the other post, I really get the feeling that after that benching, that rhodes and the Jets came to a kind of agreement, play good for us and keep your mouth shut, and we’ll let you move on after the season. The sidestepping of questions on Rhodes’ side and on Ryan’s side make me feel like this was mutually decided.

Rhodes didn’t really sidestep though, he said he wanted to be a Jet in January…and he wanted to end his career here, but you can never be sure….. Bottom line is he is gone, I don’t want a rookie under any circumstance as starting safety, not Thomas or anyone maybe apart from Berry. If we come away with Atogwe, I will be thrilled because it wouldn’t cost us anything but $$, and after they saved on Jones, Lito and now Kerry I want to see some investment back in the team. Landry I will be ok with, but grudgingly let the 2nd pick go. Anyone else (that I can think of right now) I will be disappointed with. Especially if we have to spend our first round on a safety, either drafting one, or compensation.

I watched him get interviewed by Custer on the Wheelhouse
and he was noncommittal. Wouldn’t say straight out he wanted to play here. Was talking about how the NFL is a complicated business, and he wanted to take some time to evaluate. That is just a nice was of saying I want out.

I'm not familiar
with this Atogwe guy. Is he a good player? Better than Rhodes? If so what would we have to give up to get him?
