So far, it seems that Detroit, Chicago, and Seattle are trying to be big players early on.

The NFC East finally making a big acquisition as Rolle was just signed…. I expect this division to be VERY active in the offseason. All big-market teams with a lot of money to spend.

Both Dallas & Washington have been quiet, but they’re patiently scheming — I expect both to make some blockbuster moves.

Hell, the redskins cut almost 1/4 of their team!! 10 players total I think it was, 7 of them 30+ in age.

Washington continues to perplex. New GM, was supposed to be a new way of thinking.

So they cut all the old guys, you figure they’re going in the right direction?

Then they sign the 33 year old Clifton, and re-sign the 37 year old Daniels, and 30 year old OT WIlliams?

Obviously this team will be making a play for one, if not TWO rb’s. They cut four I believe, everyone except Portis lol.

The GM’s father (former Redskins coach George Allen) had an expression, “The future is now.” Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Other than TJ, who else of note is left to be picked up? I can’t tink of anyone.

by Crackback on Mar 5, 2010 10:41 PM EST reply actions

a plethora of RB’s. a lot of them listed in John’s thread earlier in the week.

I expect each NFC east team to make a play for a RB. All four of them lol. Gonna be crazy.

Yeah, seattle seems like a big player to go after him. They seem to be looking to spend some serious money in the offseason.

I would guess hasselbeck will be gone also, MAYBE one more year. But seneca wallace clearly isnt a starter.. soo…

Think Brandon will almost certainly be in Seattle, he is flying there to meet with them tomorrow, they are bound to throw silly money, and noway the Broncos turn down the 6th overall pick

Chad Pennington to stay with Dolphins according to Mort

The two sides have reached an agreement in which Pennington will receive a one-year contract for $2.5 million but allow for another $1.515 million if he is traded, according to sources. A team interested in Pennington confirmed that it was informed of Pennington’s renewed commitment to the the Dolphins.

Isnt he required to? Thought he was going to go but that he had a “no-trade” clause holding him back.

He wanted a no trade clause, but they were not offering it, that’s the only reason it wasn’t done sooner. Now he just has some guaranteed money if they do decide to trade him.

Any word on the Pats and A. Thomas?

by Crackback on Mar 5, 2010 11:01 PM EST reply actions

Naw not recently. Last i heard a couple of days ago Bart Scott relayed that Adelius expressed interest in the Jets.

NE, another team that have been VERY hush-hush but are scheming. Sneaky, sneaky cheats. Nothing of yet.

Patriots seem to be a little indecisive at the minute, one second they are in for Peppers and then they are out, then they are in for Boldin and then they are out.

They did sign Wilfolk to a 5 year deal though, that’s definitely a positive for them.

I really thought they were going to go hard to pursue Boldin or Marshall, but didn’t happen.

Randy Moss’s career is coming to a close, and this may be his last season in the NFL. IMO, hes not even a WR1 anymore. But that’s just me.

Perfectly happy if they keep Moss, make it easier on us lol. Edelman and Welker are good enough as it is.

+1 on all fronts.

Especially with Welker’s knee being busted up, I definitely thought they would go hard at the receivers.

by Crackback on Mar 6, 2010 12:01 AM EST up reply actions

Maybe theyre going back to the Tom-and-the-No-Names approach. The did win 3 SBs that way.

Olsen

If the Pas were smart they’d be going after Chicago’s TE Olsen. He would be a great pickup for their offense and they let go of Baker today.

by WELLINGTONM on Mar 5, 2010 11:24 PM EST reply actions

Last I heard he was tendered at the second round level which is a bit high for a TE, although he does have great hands. He actually lead the Bears in catches last year too, lol.

Just think the Pats will not be quick to give up picks over the next couple of years, they know they have some rebuilding to do and have to go young.

Boldin

I gotta say i was pretty surprised when i found out what the Ravens got Boldin for. Only a 3rd and a 4th, and Baltimore even was able to get a 5th back too. I know the Jets dont have a 3rd this year and Boldin is sketchy off the field, he wanted a new deal, yada yada, but how did the Jets not at least get in on this and really entertain the idea? He would have been great for us imo.

by JDrew on Mar 5, 2010 11:39 PM EST reply actions

$$$, I think that’s what it comes down to, injury worries with a guy who wants top dollar. Also we don’t have a 3rd or 4th, so no idea how we would of been able to swing it, a lot of moving parts. With us having to invest money into players we need to get signed like Revis and Mangold, I guess we thought that paying Boldin was not worth it. Have to admit I agree with that.

Do you think there would be any takers for our 5th and 6th for a 3rd? And would you do it?

by Crackback on Mar 6, 2010 12:10 AM EST reply actions

I’d do it. That way we could address CB/OLB/WR at 1-2-3 . Get some top-tier talent and get these guys on the field starting next year.

And as far as takers… really depends what team it’d be with and who their scouts have their eye on. Hard to say bro.
