Antrel Rolle Becomes Highest Paid Safety in NFL History

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Safety Antrel Rolle has agreed to a deal with Big Blue.

The Giants reached an agreement worth $37 mllion spanning over five years, with a hefty $15 million guaranteed.

This will be a huge improvement for their squad, as their secondary was decimated by injuries last year. They only gave up 214 ypg (15th in NFL) through the air, which isn't awful, but not great either.

Still, their problem was giving up the big play, and Rolle is a ball hawk. Good upgrade for the G-Men.

I agree. At first blush, the money looks crazy, but the Giants we so bad back there they had to overpay.

Yep, all the NFC East teams have money to spend, they knew the market for Safeties is bleak and G-men would pay it. Cant fault his agent, he cashed in.

Is interesting though that he will be making more than both Ed Reed AND Polomalu, lol.

They’re pretty much done. I say the 49ers win the NFC West next year.

I do too, I actually had them winning it THIS year, but they faded after a great start. That loss in Minnesota really hurt their confidence and swagger, all downhill after that.

SF has a great young and up and coming team, and really like singletary to lead them. they finally got Crabtree signed and involved in the offense late in the season also, wonder what will happen w/ gore in offseason?

Yeah and Vernon Davis is turning into the un-guardable monster

that people thought he was coming out of college. Even Alex Smith played pretty well last season when they ran more of a spread type offense. And Patrick Willis is simply spectacular. Maybe the best football player in the league.

"Relax, all right? Don't try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring; besides that, they're fascist. Throw some ground balls. It's more democratic."

I dont think the price tag is that big of an issue. The giants filled a huge need with a big playmaker. Glad they kept him out of the afc.
