Leon Tendered With 2nd Round
Alvin Keels the 'agent' for Leon Washington has confirmed via Twitter that the Jets have indeed placed a 2nd round tender on Leon Washington and he fully expects there to be a market for his client. He put the odds of Leon returning to Jets as 50/50 at best.....
The Jets have decided to place the 2nd rounder tender on client Leon Washington.
I expect there to be a market for Leon during free agency and would say his return to the Jets will be 50/50 at best at this point

Never trust what an agent says
He’s trying to drum up the impression that there is interest in his client so somebody will try to offer more and snap him up, whether it’s the Jets or not.
There may be interest
in Leon, but who is going to sign him to a contract with a lot of guaranteed money, which is what he wants. He is coming off a major leg injury. I would be disappointed to see him go.
+1
And if we could get a 2nd rounder for him in THIS draft, Id feel less bad about seeing him go.
Richard Marshall has been tendered a 2nd by the Panthers, makes sense to me to go after him if we pick up another 2nd.
Also trade rumours are going round right now that the Jets/Cardinals are talking a Kerry Rhodes trade, either for Anquan Boldin or for a 3rd round selection.

Call me crazy but I don’t like Boldin. He’s always hurt and he’s always crying. Wouldn’t do it unless we were assured of signing Rolle.
I know nothing about Marshall. Is he any good?
A lot of it could be the Fitz factor and all the zone coverage/double teams focusing on Fitz’s vertical routes opening it up for Boldin underneath.
We will find out soon. I’m not extremely high on him either, but I do think he’d be a good addition. Maybe sign him to a one year deal? If he’d agree to that, which is highly unlikely.
Don’t mind give up Kerry Rhodes at all, but thats just me.

Leon please stay
I’d lose two of my favorite players in two weeks :(

Braylon was Tendered at 1st/3rd Round

Yeah not much to say about it really either. Browns fans might get all in a tissy, but I don’t think any of us Jet fans would expect anything less.
Right people tell me what you think of this…..I don’t think we need to make all these changes, but if we are going to say trade KR, and let Leon go, would people be happy with:
Send our 2nd to Baltimore for Landy
Send 2nd from Leon to Carolina for Marshall
Trade Kerry Rhodes to Arizona for Boldin
Spend First round pick on OLB
Draft a RB with the 5th round selection or trade some of next year’s draft to get into the 3rd round and take Gerhart….
Just thinking out loud here by the way

I think i would rather use the picks.
Dont like the Rhodes/Boldin trade.
All for first pick being OLB, especially Hughes.
Me likes to trade future picks for Gerhart mucho.
I don’t like it either, but if we do it, I think we need to try and sign Landry minimum, we can’t go into the season with Eric Smith as the starter with either Lowery or a rookie corner. I definitely don’t want to see us go in with a rookie safety and a rookie corner.

U know im no fan of Rhodes, but im not for sending him anywhere unless his replacement is all but signed. And I would use one of the 2nds on a corner rather than trade it (unless that Marshall guy is good, idk anything about him).
I agree, the prospect of having 2 rookies on the same side isn’t what we want. I think we have to have a vet at least at one or the other.
If Leon doesn't resign
we bascially shot ourselves in the foot. TJ i can see but Leon is way better than a second rounder. I have faith in Mr. T but i am hoping he doesn’t think that because the Jets didn’t have Leon doesn’t mean they need Leon.
We don’t need Leon but it’d sure be nice to keep him and provide RB threats

Yeah but I dunno
For some reason i get the feeling that if Leon goes something very bad will happen. I got the gut feeling man

But if Leon just isnt the same guy anymore, I’ll be pissed that we passed on some of the talent in this draft.
+1
either way its flirting with disaster.

I don’t think anyone even touches Brad Smith for a 2nd rounder in this draft, if they do they need there head examined. Don’t get me wrong, I like the guy but he is a nice compliment, he isn’t a feature, and you can get first round talent in the 2nd round this year. I put Brad Smith returning at 99.5%

Exactly. And Leon at 100% is a close call, but coming off that injury? No way. Jets can still outbid if they think he’s going to be fine anyay. So, im pretty sure Leon is here too. If he goes, then the Jets think its too risky a call that he’ll return to form.
I was hearing about this clause that could be inserted into his contract, where if he plays 4 games in NJ he gets paid $10 million. At first that worried me, but then I thought why would Leon accept that? he knows he is not getting it unless the Jets match, and not a chance they are doing that.
I think it is 90-10 for Leon and 99.5%-0.5% for Al Davis

Whats the possibility that teams go crazy over Mays’ 4.2-4.4 and Earl Thomas falls in our lap? Would you still take Hughes if both him and Thomas were sitting there?
Depends if Rhodes is here or not, if he is traded then I would have a hard time not picking up Thomas, if he is here I think it would be a wasted pick. My biggest fear is that we trade Kerry and then Mays falls into our lap and people think the risk is worth taking.

Lol. Heard that the Raiders already drafted Mays. I was thinking that Thomas falling was unlikely, but Haden’s 40 time just might drop him out of being first CB taken, which might drop Thomas down a bit. I know its wishful thinking, but it could happen. And we could always move Kerry after the fact or try Thomas at corner for a year.
Only problem with moving Kerry after is that he is due a roster bonus before the draft. I can’t see us paying a few million then shipping him out. Would have to be traded before that roster bonus I’d imagine.

I love Leon, but you guys have to realize that we drafted Leon with a 4th rounder I believe, and a 2nd round draft pick is always enough to draft a new Leon. They come in the league all the time, whether it is Jamaal Charles, Steve Slaton, Darren Sproles, Ahmad Bradshaw, Justin Forsett, Tashard Choice, the list goes on and on. This year it is Best, Holliday, McCluster. Best may go in the first round, but there are always 3rd, 4th, 5th rounders similar to Leon.
