UCONN Pro Day: Courtesy Of Draft Breakdown

I realise that stories are racing down the page today, but I thought this had to go up. Our buddies over at Draft Breakdown attended the UCONN Pro Day yesterday, and happened to get a lot of it on film. They informed us that the Jets had three representatives present, and those scouts took control of the wide receiver and running back drills. So not only do we get to have a look at prospects, but we also get to have a little view into how a New York Jets scout works.

Draft Breakdown wrote their report of the day first, which I advise you read before watching the video as it will give you a clearer indication what to look for while watching the video. So read that here.

Then enjoy the following video:

BTW I think with the Jets sending three scouts to this pro day and running the drills, we have our eye on at least one of the players, seriously. Probably Dixon, but I would keep a close eye on receiver Marcus Easley, he looked good and we obviously will be interested in receivers this year.

You weren’t kidding about the stories racing across the front page today. However, that’s the way I like it. No shortage of news!

Regarding the video, can you tell me who is who in the first half? From the article, I’m guessing that Dixon is the long haired guy and Easley is the guy in the gray shirt? There were tons of drops in that crisscrossing leg drill.

It was a busy day for sure yesterday.

I think it was:

Lindsey Witten- Lineman doing his vertical
Marcus Easley- Grey
Brad Kanuch- White receiver
Austin Knowlin- White top (Columbia Lions receiver who just worked out at UCONN’s Pro Day)
Andre Dixon- Long hair

Thanks!

I haven’t watched many vids like this, but Dixon was the only one I liked in the bunch. Kanuch seemed to have the best hands of the rest, but he was going slower. Knowlin seemed to be trying to go too fast for his own good. I wasn’t really as impressed with Easley as the guys on Draft Breakdown, but maybe it’s because I expected perfection after reading about him.

What did you think about these guys and any of them going to the Jets?

Early on I wasn’t impressed with any of them really, Kanuch was the one standing out early, but then Easley started to warm up, and the two one handed catches were pretty decent. He also got in and out of his cuts a lot smoother than the rest, Kanuch seemed to just drift along, and there was no real edge to his cuts which would make him quite easy to defend. Easley by the end of it definitely looked like a decent prospect, and I’m sure the Jets scouts (one in the green cap, and the one in the black shirt) were impressed enough.

Easley is a 6-3 220lb guy will good body control, if we miss out on Shipley and Decker and Easley is sitting there in the 4th, I think we would need to take a serious look at him. I read the Chicago Bears were really taking a liking to him.

Andre Dixon is a possibility for the Jets as well potentially.
