WR Braylon Edwards Signs Tendered Contract
Rich Cimini reported that WR Braylon Edwards has signed his contract and reported to voluntary workouts:
Edwards did, in fact, sign his tender (believed to be $6.1 million) and showed up today. Recently, Rex Ryan said he expected Edwards to be on hand, but there was some question because of Edwards' history in Cleveland, where he never was known as a diligent off-season workout guy.
The Jets tendered Edwards at the highest level (first- and third-round picks as compensation), and the reason is salary is so high is because it's 120% of his 2009 salary. That's the rule.

I would have liked for Leon to be at the workouts, but it’s not much of a surprise that he’s not there (yet). I believe he missed part or all of it last year as well.
On the good, I’m glad Edwards is there. Hopefully Sanchez is ready to roll soon so he can work on his repertoire and they can build on last year’s rapport.
Clemens must go
This Guy Is not a NFL QB and Needs to be let go for the sake of the team.Over the time he has been here he has done nothing to prove that he is worthy of being in NY Sanchez came here and blew him out of the show Eric Aggie is a better QB and back than him, why are the jets still wasting there time and money on this guy. there are a lot of older more qualified vets out there looking for a mentoring job that can do a better job at moving the offence than this clown, sorry to say but its true Clemens no hard feeling your probably a great guy outside the stadium but on the field you got to left feet.the jet need to free up that money for other deals like going after Marshall now or another vet QB.there come a time when you must cut your losses and to let go of chad and keep this guy must have been the blunder of all jet blunders lets get it to gather management you guy did wonders in 09 and 2010 lets finish it up with cutting loose with some more of the dead corps baggage players taking space up in locker room.</

I’m rather nebulous on the rules of restricted free agency… what happens when someone doesn’t sign a tender?
As far as the voluntary workouts, they’re still allowed to participate.

Okay, but I mean if they end up not signing a tendered contract do they eventually become an unrestricted free agent? Or do they have to sit the year out or something?
I think at a certain point, we can decrease his salary, almost in half, if he doesn’t sign by a certain time, can’t remember when that is, but it’s post draft. We can also trade him or take the offer off the table and allow him to become a UFA, something we obviously won’t do.

He is waiting for a better offer, a long term deal perhaps from another team. He will wait until he can run, so he and his ‘agent’ can try and convince someone to give him a better deal. Of course I don’t think they will succeed and this will all end in him signing the tender before we have the right to drop his salary which won’t be for a while.
Would need to check the date to see when other teams can sign RFA….think there are a few more weeks….stops just before the draft, so 3 weeks +

Why the hell has Drew Coleman not signed yet, guy is lucky to have an offer at all, he doesn’t even deserve a job in the NFL, I would take that 6th round tender and get it signed ASAP if I were him
